Agreed on expectations. With their ageing squad and overall problems most managers would get a passing grade at least for that first season.

Guardiola is clearly a very talented manager within some very strict criteria.

If he is in charge of a very rich team that is already significantly better and richer than its rivals, he clearly excels.

Outside of that there's no way of knowing if he's a Pochettino or a Sherwood.

Edit clearly he's not a Sherwood, nobody else can be that fudging dumb.

Some of his skills certainly seem transferable. But yeah, he's unproven at a lower level club and without any real money.

Was once a time when that was us. Maybe we were never quite so gung-ho with the cheque book but 8 of the first choice Double side were purchased for what were considered big fees at the time.

I did at the time but maybe now in hindsight with what's happened to Lennon it's less funny.

I really don't begrudge Walker moving on. He was dropped/rested or whatever in most of the big games last season and after 9 years at the club, you'd want to be starting ALL of the CL games, especially considering that we weren't in the CL for the majority of his time at Spurs. That's without even mentioning that he's probably doubled his wages.

The fact is he does stand a better chance of winning trophies at Emirates Marketing Project IMO. Despite the fact that we have a better starting eleven IMO, he was right about saying we lacked the "edge" to win trophies. I don't know what word I was use to describe it but we do clearly lack that extra 5% or 10% that's required to get you over the line.
