Ryan Mason

This is pure, utter speculation by people who apparently haven't examined or been in the same room with Ryan, but still positive reporting:

"Hull City hopeful Ryan Mason will be back for start of next season"

"The early indications are that Ryan Mason is set to make a full recovery from his fractured skull and should be back in Hull City’s first team by the start of next season....

“Ryan Mason would be expected to follow a gradual return to play protocol and the first step is complete rest, which means no stimulation,” said Dr Michael Grey, a reader in rehabilitation neuroscience at the University of East Anglia who specialises in concussion and sports-related head injuries. “Then, after complete rest, comes gentle exercise, all with continuous monitoring to check there are no symptoms, no fatigue or dizziness or headaches.”

Without knowledge of the specifics of Mason’s injury it is impossible to offer a precise prognosis. But the fact he was in the operating theatre for a relatively short time and able to talk to his team-mate Michael Dawson, along with Hull’s club secretary and medical staff when they visited him on Monday morning, is enormously encouraging.

Skull fractures come in assorted forms but operations are required when bone presses on the fracture, fragments break loose or a bleed occurs. “The fracture’s not really the problem,” Grey said. “Bones knit – the big issue is damage to the brain tissue and making sure that’s properly healed. But once recovery’s complete, heading balls should be fine.” ....

As he rests in a darkened room, Mason has reason to sense sunshine on the far horizon."

At least it's an attempt to give some relevant information on what might be expected, even if speculative.
Better than the red tops with headlines about Mason's stunning WAG girlfriend/fiancée alongside bikini photos of her.
F365 have been calling them out on it. Although I suppose we should know better than to be surprised by anything the tabloids do.

If they're directly quoting him, then this neuroscience specialist has missed his goddamn calling. My doctor doesn't sign off on my prescriptions with 'if you take these medicines, then your wan days of illness will soon be dispelled by the coming rays of the vivid, colorful morn."

I think the OP just took excerpts from the article - the full article is longer and the last para is from the journo not a quote from the specialist. There's some other interesting stuff in the article

Further Update on Ryan Mason
The Club can confirm that Ryan Mason continues to make excellent progress after sustaining a skull fracture in Sunday’s game against Chelsea.

He will continue to be closely monitored by staff at St Mary’s Hospital over the next few days, whilst also remaining in contact with our medical team to assess his progress.

There will be no further updates from the club until there are any changes in Ryan’s condition. We also ask that people respect Ryan & his family’s privacy whilst he remains in hospital.

Are you sure? I've got no idea what my doctor's handwriting says.

I have herd from a friend that's his career is over. Which i am so sorry for him. To young to stop playing. He has a big scar from front to back, and his speech has not returned normality.

Tragic if true. Cruel luck on a player who always gave it everything he's got.

That's shocking, I hope that isn't true. Have you heard anything @Roy1983?

I truly hope your friend has taken that up wrong.
