Transfer Rumour Bolleaux

I don't think we're trying at all. Poch doesn't seem to really like signings - he's talked about his 3 additions a year maximum ideal. We don't even have a head of scouting at the moment with Mitchell on gardening leave.

I don't think he is on gardening leave, he's working his notice. That's a big difference. As for Poch not liking signings, I think you're wrong. I just think that he won't sign a player unless he is absolutely sure that they are right and will add to the team. He made 4 signings this season (Wanyama, Janssen, N'Koudou and Sissoko), 5 signings last season (Wimmer, Trippier, Toby, N'Jie and Son) and 7 signings the season before (Davies, Vorm, Dier, Yedlin, Fazio, Stambouli and Dele). Not sure where this 3 additions a year maximum ideal comes from.

He wasn't "absolutely sure" that N'Koudou, N'Jie, Yedlin, even Dele...

It was from an old interview at Southampton. I think he might have said 3 new additions to the squad including academy promotions too. Obviously he had Baldini here when he first came, and had to do a bit of reshaping of the squad. But going forward I can't see us making more than 1 or 2 new signings a year, if that, now.

The reason was more to do with the time it took them to learn his system and the disruption they could potentially cause to the collective. He just seems to have a preference for a longer indoctrination/trial period (i.e. development through the academy)

Well sure as you can be when buying a youngster. The point is, he doesn't buy just anybody. He puts thought into it. I would imagine this is why we didn't buy Dembele (because he was not sure at that price that he would be a success) or Sessegnon now. I think he's a very principled person, and if a potential purchase comes in that matches those principles then he will do it.

OK fair enough. I guess he hasn't got the current squad to the point where he can just make 3 new additions a year then.

I think he has now.

And he probably would have last summer if either Njie had lived up to promise (re GKN) or things hadn't happened behind the scenes with Bentaleb (re Sissoko). Wanyama and Janssen seemed planned, whereas the other two look more like reactive readjustments.

Pochettino "also said that he did not envisage any additions to his squad before next Tuesday’s transfer deadline. “Every fan, every person can have their opinion and in that moment, it’s 80,000 managers, 80,000 chairmen, 80,000 sports scientists,” Pochettino said. “But we cannot listen. We have a strong squad – enough to compete in the next four months. It’s not impossible [to sign a player] – 1% maybe – but I don’t believe we will.”

you think? He cant defend though can he? and does Schlupp not play in the same position? Think you are right Fat Sam is stealing something.

Sunderland's second highest scorer this season and their only attacking threat besides Defoe. It pretty much guarantees they go down. His ability going forward should have seen much bigger clubs interested.

Patrick van Aanholt joins Palace for £9m. That's a steal.

It today's market it is a little cheap, though not sure its a steal. Really odd that they decided to sell him to a relegation rival though unless they need the cash to strengthen another area, and can do so in the next 3 days

Might be he doesn't have long on his contract and they might get more now than in the summer?
