Whatever happened to the ratings threads?

Lloris 7 - not really tested but super-swift off his line as always. Could be a bit quicker recycling the ball at times.

Dier 6 - decent
Vertonghen 7 - great defending but lucky not to concede a pen for shirt-grabbing in the box
Wimmer 6 - slotted seamlessly into the back three; very unlucky to concede the og given Arse had two offside ahead of him

Walker 7 (going on 8) - thankfully back to his solid best following Wednesday night's aberrations
Wanyama 7 - sterling work locking down the centre of the park as always
Dembele 8 - great surging run to win the pen, he should do more of that
Rose 8 - someone on here suggested he's currently the best LB in the world, well there cannot be too many better right now, that's for sure.

Eriksen 7 - looking better than of late, with some excellent distribution mixed in with the pussy challenges
Son 6 - started brightly then faded

Kane 7 - great to see him back, his presence seemed to give the whole team a lift going forward. Here's hoping his goal from the spot is just the first of many from November on as in his two previous seasons

Subs

Janssen 6 - decent hold-up play but fluffed his one good chance.
Trippier n/a
Winks n/a

Agree with these markings and comments - and Rose just edging Dembele for MOTM

I used to enjoy the ratings threads on here after each game.
The differing opinions from the multiple posters were fascinating.
Did these stop for a specific reason or did we just get bored of them?
They were over-rated.
I was more of a fan of the knee-jerk threads.
Them was fun.

I think the answer is that Poch became manager and we became good again for the first time since the 80s.

Ratings threads are boring when there's no one to berate and everyone is scoring 8s or above.

As a long time lurker, Mr Gutter Boy, your answer makes perfect sense to me unfortunately!

Why not call it MOTM thread.

Rose was tireless and gets it
Dembele was different class.

They all put in a good performance.

Think they just became a way for people to have a dig at players they didn't like, or massively over rate players they did.

Vertonghen, Rose, Wanyama and Dembele were exceptional.

The football genius Garth crooks had Dier in his team of the week, although he didn't really explain why, it just seemed to be so that he could mention he interviewed him that week!

I agree with your 4 standouts.

I used to create the threads, but for the last one I did (the 2-2 draw with the Gooners in March) there was criticism that the rating threads were only created when we hadn't play well, so I couldn't be arsed anymore.

I liked them. Sure there was favourite player bias but it was interesting to see what others thought of each players performance in comparison to my own opinion.

I've always been a bit of a ratings junkie but about 18 months / two years ago someone posted they found them a crushing bore and from that point on the replies just seemed to dry up.

So maybe they're just seen as uncool these days?

Like much of the other inputs

- They were fun
- People give feedback most when they can bitch, so rise in quality has led to less interaction (bitching)
- Bit contentious because we have had a long history of having a spacegoat in the team (which can get tiresome)

Probably a "Post Match" thread might not be a bad idea, and we could drop ratings in there.
