Vincent Janssen

also about time we gave harrison or sterling a chance, lots of people did not rate rashford very highly this time last year, give the kids a chance

Thought he was better today. Lovely take and volley although he was offside. He was also good helping out the defence. Of course there was the obligatory chance miss. But I was generally heartened by his display whilst still not completely convinced. He just needs time for Poch and his coaching to work their magic. He missed our preseason after all.

It's all about how he bounces back from misses. All strikers miss chances. The good ones put the next chance away. Kane missed a couple of half chances himself. But you know he'll bang in a belter. Good strikers get constipated and eventually have to release the goals [emoji23]

The concern with Jansen, in an new country and side his head will drop. Does he have the mentality to bang in the next chance? Or do the lack of goal weigh heavy on him? He's almost a bit shy to score. Poch needs to work on his mentality. Janssen needs to feel the goals are his, and just has to claim them. Kane loves the limelight and almost feels 'entitled' to score. He misses but the next will fly in.

All about mentality for Janssen. Stay positive and he will score. At 22 he has time.

I thought he was pretty poor today when he first came on, did better towards the end though. It's all good experience for him at this stage. Harry will carry us through this season and then hopefully we see the best of Janssen from next season onwards.

I had a chuckle from Janssen today. There was a moment, when a Spurs defender cleared the ball to the halfway line and as the camera panned to midfield an arse player went flying head first into the frame. I knew it was a shove from Janssen and it still amuse me to think of it.

Kocielny

Jansenn doesn't feck around

If he settles he will be hated by defenders over here because he is a pain to play against

I think he is learning new tricks all the time at the moment and he is still so inexperienced at this level

No chance of that

He needs to score about 12 goals this season or more just to convince some people he should be able to wear out shirt

I think he can do that. Just needs to get the first couple out the way. Stop thinking as the opportunities come his way. A lot of pressure on him at the moment, whether he admits it or not.

we're in november and he hasn't scored a goal from open play, excuses are hard to justify now

Does he have a Twitter account? I make no bones about my irrational love for Bobby Soldier, because he still loves us, and his Twitter shows it. I feel like Janssen setting up something similar would do wonders for his early popularity with the fans. :p Either way, in Bobby's case, the fans kept singing his name even when he wasn't playing, and he then repeatedly mentioned in interviews how ashamed he'd get warming up on the touchline and hearing the 'Soldado' song go up around the ground, while knowing that he hadn't done much to justify that faith so far and wishing that he knew what it was that was missing from his game. It humanized him, in a way - made him feel like an earnest person who was trying his level best to repay the fans who'd put so much faith in him. I feel like we could get such a feedback loop going for Janssen as well - get a song or two going, even when he's on the bench, and see if we can't also give him that boost he needs to start trying to repay that faith in earnest.

He is already a far bigger asset than soldado ever was. No real comparison right now
