Ryan Mason

He's a number 8. Been plaued out of positon.

Onomah has a higher ceiling than winks imo and is seen as one of the best youth talent we have produced. He is an excellent player who is starting to become a physical beast too.

Why would you play winks? Based on friendlies?

Played as a 10 yesterday!

So did Kane but it doesn't mean either belong there ;)
just saying, still never seen him play in the Dembele role everyones suddenly talking about being his position!
Every time he is on a green oblong with a leather ball - its in an AMC / Inside Forward role still!....

Not in the 1st team, no, but he's played there a lot for the youth sides - both at club and international level. I'm a big fan of Onomah(hence the avatar) but I think he'd need to go through some kind of metamorphosis in order to ever become an effective attacking midfielder/wide forward at the top level. His biggest strengths are getting on the ball deep, dictating the play and shielding/driving forward with the ball - all similar qualities to Dembele(obviously he has a long way to go before he gets to that level).

I thought he played centre mid for the youth @Yoof?? I've always seen him play there and pretty much boss the games

Wow a clear out after the best season in modern times. Puzzling.

Mason wants to go, I think. Poch is apparently happy to have him around, but as a squad player. However, thinking about it, Poch did mention after the Saudi Sportswashing Machine game how disappointed he was with the lack of commitment and endeavour, and I remember a lot of discussions here about whether that was an indicator of an incoming clearout. IIRC, I suggested Walker for the chop - bit silly now given how good he was in the first two games, but it could be that some of these players we're seeing leave or get linked with moves away (Chadli, Son et al) are paying for that game.

IIRC Son was one of our better players towards the end. Didn't he score a couple of goals in the last few games, Saudi Sportswashing Machine?

I think we could be shooting us in the leg with letting so many players go and expecting their replacements (who are yet to arrive) to set the world alight immediately.

No surprise for me that he has gone, he is not a bad player but i always thought he was overhyped by some. Good luck to him as at his age he needs to play on a regular basis and he would never have got that here.

Scored against chelski and Southampton, yeah. Lamela scored our goal against newcash.

Would be madness to sell him, in my opinion. Would have serious doubts over Poch's decision making abilities if we let him go now. I really don't think we'll sell though.

If the newcomers are replacing the likes of Mason they'll have half a season of bench warming to get up to speed with the rest of the team, so don't see any problem with that.

Would these be the same decision making abilities that threw an 18 year old in to the first team after having only a couple of seasons in the lower divisions.

I said "if we sell him" and also said that I don't think we'll sell. So I'm not questioning our decision making abilities as per now. ;)

I think he'll go, he is obviously surplus to requirements based on the fact he didn't even make the bench on Saturday. With Poch preferring Winks and Onomah to him.
