Mateo Kovacic

Yiddo

Cecil Poynton
Not been linked to him as far as i know but he had an interview recently pretty much saying he is set to leave Real Madrid.

Only 22 and Madrid payed €30m for him so he shouldn't be that expensive and would be a great addition to the squad imo. Would be ideal competition/back up for Dembele.

We should be all over this.

Edit - Was linked to him in March by various different sources.

Buy him I've never heard of him, but I could have said he was s*** after 2 games, I blame Levy

Formerly of Inter Milan. His development has been paused by his stint in Real. Not sure if he is a good buy. One to keep an eye on during Euros if he is playing. Rakitic and Modric are their CMs right?

Primarily plays as a #10 from what I've seen (limited I admit). Not really a position/role where we need a lot of strengthening. If he's ready at this point to compete with Dembele in central midfield perhaps it could be a very good signing, but I don't know if that's the case.

After a big money move from Inter Milan to Real Madrid I would've thought that he would already be on bigger wages than we can afford?

Iu don't think everyone who goes to Madrid is on 200k a week. The boy was only 21 when he moved and i don't think he will be on anymore than 80k a week.

Madrid play 4-3-3 and he is one of the deeper 3 when he gets a game. He is always popping up and making challenges on the edge of the Madrid penalty area and always seems to play deeper than the number 10. He shows good work rate and is very good at pressing and turning defence into attack. I think he would be the one who would support the attack out of the 2 holding midfielder (like Dembele) rather than the number 10 who plays just behind the striker.

I personally think this guy is the best we can get that can take us up a level from the Mason's and Carrol's. Would not surprise me if he ends up at Liverpoo.

I'm not a big fan of youtube videos but seeing as though this is the theme for transfer targets . . . . .

Cheers.

Do you think he's ready to step into our system next to Dier though? That's quite a different role to playing as one of a central 3 at Madrid...

Not questioning his talent or ability on the ball at all. Might also be a good time to pick him up for a decent fee if Real want to get rid.

With what i have seen, he looks the perfect fit. He has a lot of energy, tracks back, reads the game well and even though he does not have the strength of Moussa, he is very good at dribbling his way out of trouble.

A pre season with Poch and he could potentially be a key player.

I might be the exception here but I've never really been impressed with this guy when I've seen him play, which is not much admittedly.

Linked to him again apparently, by Gazza Mercato.

It's an interesting one - I'll freely admit that I haven't seen much of him, but if he could play No.10 and in midfield alongside Dier, he'd be a good pickup. However, that will involve a lot of rotation with Eriksen, Alli, Dembele et al - not sure why he'd want to leave Madrid's bench to come sit on ours.

Also, Verts apparently (the only source for this I could find is a comment underneath that linked tweet) 'liked' a post about this yesterday, which surely means it's all sealed, signed and delivered. :p

I think he'd be the rotation/replacement/competition (delete as you feel appropriate) for Dembele. When I've seen him, he's seem to me to play deeper than a no 10 - more likely to play the pass before the assist, rather than the assist itself.

Unless real have told him that he's definitely being sold, I cant see why he'd leave Real for us though as he wouldn't be guaranteed to start for us.

Papers are saying that he's being offered around to plenty of clubs. He's a bit of an all action midfielder, with a great passing range.

Kovacic and Wanyama in the centre of a second team / cup team, would not be too bad if i am honest.

Right now our highest earners are on 80Ka week so that is still a lot of money for us

Firstly I expect Wanyama to start at the beginning of the season and if he maintained his form I do not see him being dropped

Secondly, I do not see Kovacic on the money he is on wanting to move from Madrid's bench to ours

Personally I simply do not enough about him to make an informed opinion on him

I think we'll move to a massively interchangeable position next season, especially in CM,where we essentially have 4 first choice players for 2 positions so we are always fresh and can utterly dominate for 90 mins of all game.

He's making £90K/wk at Madrid. At that salary, maaaybe he'd be gettable. He can then turn into a Luka and we can sell him back to Madrid for £50 mil 3 years down the road. :D

From what I've seen I like - great balance and two good feet, happy to turn left or right, and tries to draw a player before releasing the ball. i thought the reason why he isn't featuring regularly for madrid is because they already have modric, and to me they are very similar.
