Best live experience

Rock Strongo

The title says it all, what's the best gig you been to?

My fav's :

Turboneger @ Fenka 1996, the early days. Fantastic experience!

Cardigans @ Storås I believe it was 2006.

Upcoming this year: Susanne Sundfør (check her out!), Elton John and Iron Maiden.

Kate bush, before the dawn. There is no superlative that can do it justice.
Honourable mention to bare naked ladies, been to about 6 of their concerts and they were brilliant

Those of a certain age have a soft spot for Kate. I have two.

Some of the best concerts have been witnessed while at work, so not the optimal experience. Too many to mention really.

Muse @ UKA-07
Korn @ Quart 09
Pretty much all of Norway Rock 09 (In Flames, Nightwish, Testament, Manowar, Sonata Arctica, Arch Enemy)
Kaizers Orchestra far too many times.

For insane atmosphere: The female half of 2 Unlimited @ a 90's party and The Ark in front of 200 people in a 1,500 capacity concert hall.

For musicianship: Guns N' Roses, Porcupine Tree, Iron Maiden

Foo Fighters at Auckland Town Hall, NZ 2011. They came over impromptu to raise money towards the Christchurch Earthquake relief fund. Tiny bit beautiful venue compared to the enormo-domes they usually play. Set was just under 4 hours. Immense.

Chris Cornell, two-hour solo acoustic show at the ASB Centre in Auckland 2012 I think. That voice...

Honourable mentions to Pearl Jam, Machine Head, Monster Magnet, Faithless and for pure entertainment, Spice Girls! First ever rock gig was special too, Guns N' Roses in 92 at the Inonu Stadium in Istanbul.

Thomas Knak aka Opiate @ Engelsholm, 2008
TV On The Radio @ Roskilde, 2006
And You Will Know us By The Trail of Dead @ Roskilde, 2002
Rancid @ Rockefeller, 2003
Tim Hecker @ Voxhall, 2011
Vladislav Delay @ Victoria Scene, 2013
The Mars Volta @ Betong, 2003

Did anyone see Pink Floyd at the Live 8 gig? That would be epic.

For me, RATM. Hands down.

I was there, the who were great as well

the prodigy and chemical brothers in the late 90's, gigs rather than club nights

oasis were mostly brilliant, foo fighters always were (I preferred them indoors though), one gig they had Motörhead and Probot too, that was awesome

Maiden at Brixton academy with dingdonginson was a highlight

I've seen Skunk Anasie a few times, the most enjoyable was on their recent acoustic tour

favourite was probably The Wildhearts at Shepherds Bush Empire in 2009

Prodigy @Wembley Arena ( rare a band sounds good there. Prodigy ripped the place to pieces)

Kasabian @ Harlows, Sacramento (few hundred ppl club. Before the got famous)

Fratellis @ Electric Ballroom earlier this year. Great live band

Any Wildhearts gig .

Been to see Iron Maiden three times and they are always good, Metallica was decent and Muse was very good aswell. Went to a Springsteen concert once and the sound guy must have been drunk because it sounded awfull all night.

My best experience though has to be AC/DC in Oslo. They played innsanely loud, but after three songs you got used to it and it was excellent. Angus Young has a stage presence like few others.

Honorable mention to ( suprisingly for me) The Roling Stones. Got the chance to see them in Bergen a few years ago, got some tickets for free through work. Never really been a big fan but they rocked the place. Had a great night!

Machine Head - Brixton Academy 2004
Foo Fighters - Reading Festival 1995
Neds Atomic Dustbin - Kentish Town Forum (can't remember the year)
Pearl Jam - London Astoria 2006
Eric Clapton Blues Night - Royal Albert Hall late 80s
Metallica - Milton Keynes Bowl 1993ish?
Rob Zombie - Soundwave Festival 2011
Slayer - Soundwave Festival 2011

Seen the stones at a freezing cold uncovered Hamden that was half empty, should have been crap but they were amazing.
