TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR VS CHELSEA - CAPITAL ONE CUP FINAL

I was in block 109 and it was constant singing and support from the first minute till the final whistle

Well ..I agree...we did have a lot of the game...They just parked the bus ...but were dangerous on the break..

We can build on this team...but

I hope we can bring in the players we need to play along side our best players.
anyway.........................................................................................................its forward or back to square one again next season for this club!

Yes, could hear Spurs singing, even after the second went in, but it wasn't picked up on TV so well. What was with people getting back for the second half so late?

Massive queues of people desperate to have that £5 pint of dogbrick Carlsberg instead fo watching the game

What can you say? Didn't really look like winning.
Double shame as Chelsea seemed under-par if we could have raised our game, maybe that was because they didn't really need to exert themselves though. Just a bit of a damp squid in general.

Anyone else reading anything into Eriksens facial expressions in the last 10mins or so? Understandably upset as he was on the currently losing side but just seemed like he had had enough.

Without wanting to be overly critical i've just had enough of Townsend, its time Bobby went i've given up and despite liking lamela i am starting to think he needs a kick up the arse and to move 10yrds up the pitch.

Absolutely gutted. Distraught.

It's not like this result is surprising but I think coming so soon after our EL giveaway on Thursday it feels so so much worse than it should.:(

Spurs fans on the tube and around Wembley were in good voice.

Got on the tube with a bunch of yids and the seats were full of blue shirts. Spurs singing and rocking the carriage - not a peep out of the racists.

Mourinho was right..... Your fans are brick

Chelsea just said sit back keep it tight and eliminate all mistakes, let Spurs have plenty of the ball because they wont do nothing with it, after 1/2 hour they will crack, I felt sorry for Rose he did not deserve to be on the losing side.
On to the next game.

Chelsea did not know how to play against us in the first half. What we lack is street smarts, experience was the difference between the teams today.
Completely disagree. Chelsea knew exactly how to play against us. They took a leaf out of Stoke, West Brom, Palace, West Ham, Fiorentina and others notebook. Pack the midfield, nullify Kane and Eriksen and wait for the inevitable mistake. You don't need players of technical excellence to frustrate us as we are only really a threat on the counter. Chelsea werent going to make the same mistake to try and play football against us like they did at the Lane. We are too one dimensional at present. It isn't lack of experience it is lack of quality in key positions. Townsend, Chadli and Lamela were all poor today. You can't afford to play the champions elect with several players below par. That is where the difference lay.

It will come. This sort of thing doesn't happen overnight. We gave no right really to be challenging the others for a top four spot given the size of our stadium wage bill etc.

I hope you are right. But we need to buy better. Paulinho, Soldado, Lamela cost us somewhere north of £60 million. One would have hoped that with that expenditure, they would have had a greater impact. Just imagine if we had spent that sort of money on the right key purchases, how much better our team could have been. Oh well.........

Worst week in our history?

Poor performance against Spam and hugely lucky to draw. Knocked out of two cups and all our rivals for fourth winning.

We have now scored one flukey goal and one penalty in the last three games.

Need to put this behind us quickly and move on.

Mate...just arriving to these forums today...please please tell me this is glib humor and not a genuine question?

I was just posing the question. Yes we have a lot to be positive about, but this week couldn't have been much worse for us in terms of results.

...and it could get worse if we follow the usual Spurs route over our next two games..!
We all love it really

Costa should have been booked for slapping bentaleb' space.

The elbow he threw at Bentaleb right before it technically deserved a red. Ramires, having fouled SEVEN times before getting a booking then commits anther yellow card booking and stays on the pitch. Kane gets tugged to the ground via his shirt from a corner; not seen/no pen. They were qclams.

Oh, he saw it alright, just chose to ignore it.

Depressed that we lost the Final but hardly surprised. We really rode our luck to be even in the Final as we have been unconvincing in almost all the Cup matches under Pochettino. And fortunately for us, we managed to avoid any decent teams until the Final. But unfortunately, our luck ran out just when it mattered most, against Chelsea in the Final ! Thought we would be lifted by that 5-3 win in the league. But disappointingly, we went down too tamely to Chelsea. In fact, it must be one of our worst performance in a Cup Final. We only had 2 shots on target the whole match. It hardly looked like a Cup Final !

Pochettino has to take large part of the blame as he chose too many youngsters over experienced players. Felt the more experienced Fazio, Dembele and Lamela should have started in place of Dier, Mason and Townsend. I think many of them got overawed about playing in a Final as they couldn't lift their game. Even Kane was unable to do much. He didn't get much service but thought he lacked the usual killer instinct in front of goal. We did start well and Eriksen was unlucky not to score in the 10th min when his superb freekick hit the bar. Thought we would be lifted by that. Instead, despite our fair share of domination, we never looked like scoring after that. Apart Kane's tame effort and another half chance from Eriksen, we didn't have any shots on target after that.

I think we lost this match in midfield as we let Chelsea control it. Feel the more experienced Dembele-Stambouli would have done much better instead of the inexperienced Bentaleb and Mason. Bentaleb had a good match but Dembele should have played instead of the anonymous Mason. When we beat them 5-3 in the league, the turning point was when Dembele replaced the injured Mason in the 14th min. Dembele helped us control the midfield after that. But here, Dembele only came on after the match was lost. Pochettino should have atleast brought him on at the start of the 2nd half. Similiarly, Lamela should have started instead of the useless Townsend. Lamela improved our attack when he came on in the 71st min but it was too late by then. Really disappointed with Chadli as he had a bad game and was even at fault for stupidly giving away the freekick from which they scored their first goal.

Our defence's failure to keep a clean sheet have come back to cost us dearly. Both their goals were via deflection but thought we should have defended better for both the goals. It was a bad header from Rose which gave them the shot for their first goal. But Dier should have reacted faster to stop the shot instead of ball-watching which resulted in the ball being deflected off him into goal. Similiarly, Walker should have defended better when Costa had a free shot on goal. Maybe we should have replaced Walker before that as he was badly struggling with injury late in the first half.

It is really depressing to lose any Cup Final as it will mentally affect you for a long time. Gave up when we conceded the 2nd goal but was hoping we could atleast score a consolation goal. Was hoping for a late magic from either Kane, Eriksen or Lamela to help us get 1 goal. Instead we failed to get one. This failure in the Final will haunt us for a long time.

Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic, 26, who missed the final through suspension, emulated his captain John Terry and put on a full kit, including boots and shinpads, to celebrate the League Cup win with his team-mates. Terry famously donned a full kit to join Chelsea's Champions League celebrations in 2012
