Not going to put numbers, Every now and then we need to stop being a critic.

A young manager, with a very young team, with lots of English & Academy players played the best team in country in the biggest stadium, and played their hearts out.

COYS!

Spot on.

If you had offered me a cup final, Kane on track to score thirty goals, in the chase for a champions league place, a settled style of play, improvement in the core group of players and sorting out which players the manager wanted and those which were surplus to requirements at the beginning of the season, I would have bitten your hand off. COYS

Yeah, I'm with Raziel on this today. The players got to a cup final and didn't roll over and die.

Ditto

Lloris 6 a couple of good saves.
Walker 6 looked good in first ten minutes, but ran out of steam. Why didn't Poch take him off after the injury?
Vertoghen 6 OK, Good on the ball, no mistakes.
Dier 6 Ok
Rose 6 Another one who looked tired. Had no zip today. No aggression either, which I thought was odd.
Mason 5 Didn't really impose himself. A bit of a meh game from him.
Bentaleb 7 Our best player over the 90 minutes.
Eriksen 5.5 Started off well, but faded. Came too deep.
Chadli 4 Must have been hypnotised before the game to think he was Townsend.
Townsend 4 Played like he was Townsend, which was brick. Again!
Kane. 5 No service and too isolated. Tried hard.

Lloris - 6

Walker - 6
Dier - 6
Vertonghen - 6
Rose - 7

Townsend - 4
Mason - 5
Bentaleb - 8
Chadli - 4

Eriksen - 5
Kane - 6

Cannot believe the low marks and negativity above. We played the football, they got the breaks.

Lloris 7 - couple of superb saves

Walker 7 - not going to mark him down for the og, played his socks off, shame his crossing lacks finesse
Dier 8 - this man can time a tackle like King, definitely one for the future
Verts 7 - solid as usual
Rose 7 - another solid performance

Bentaleb 8 - is growing in stature game by game
Mason 7 - with Bentaleb, controlled the midfield and got the ball forward quickly, now if only he could also shoot straight

Townsend 6 - crossing was poor, did okay otherwise, but was mostly snuffed out by excellent defending
Eriksen 7 - unlucky with the fk that thudded the bar, some excellent touches but still some way short of his best
Chadli 6 - decent first half, faded second

Kane 7 - two or three excellent runs but like Townsend was mostly snuffed out by excellent defending

Subs

Dembele 7 - some good strong work in mid but unable to effect the desired change going forward
Lamela 6 - still far too easy to dispossess and how Chelsea knew it
Soldado 6 - couple of clever touches but he's another incapable of a decent cross

Edit - forgot:

Poch 7 - got team selection spot on for me but needs to do heavy-duty work on organising our defence, eg man-for-man marking from all dead-ball situations, not just corners

Were you tinkled before half time? Townsend a 6? I thought I was being charitable giving him a 4. Kane 7... please he barely got a shot on goal.

Agreed about the scores, the lads were a team today and to a man worked hard. I could complain about the ref, and will do so to goading mates at work tomorrow, but ultimately experience showed. Turns out that glorious 5-3 win was actually the silver lining :(

Mason, Bentaleb, Chadlis speculative shooting was something we should have done better with ie not tried at all. With the width and delivery we have we should have asked more questions with the crosses, even with the CBs Chelsea have, keep knocking and sooner or later something would drop. But that's hindsight. Fact is, that was a bloody hard team to break down and credit to those lads for having a go.

Not memorable performance but we have seen our team capitulate before against big teams after a bright opening and what we should be proud of now is the spirit in the whole squad to compete till the end. Chelsea showed respect to Tottenham today and that's another reason they won.

Notable mentions:
Bentaleb was immense in the centre. Walker for staying on when he clearly should have gone off.
Kane, quiet for patches, really drove at Chelsea in between and always a threat.
Hugo some amazing stops and can't be held responsible for either goal.
Soldado was direct and confident when he came on, creating opportunities.

Even going into injury time I thought we could do it, even on 93 mins I thought we would score. Such was the effort of the lads.

Both were part of an excellent team performance all-round and deserve recognition for their contributions overall. No way would I give Townsend a 4, sure he didn't have an excellent game but it was never that bad either.

Too many on here looking for spacegoats if you ask me.

Mate not trying to make a spacegoat, but Townsend has been consistently poor for me this season. I cannot for the life of me understand keeping him and letting Lennon go. I would have started Lamela ahead of Townsend, because while Lamela may run into blind alleys, he is much more effective at winning the ball back than Townsend and IMO has a better eye for a pass. I hope that Townsend improves under Poch because he could have it all if he would improve his decision making. A bit like Lamela really.

Wouldn't argue that Townsend is having a poor season, my point is merely that he played his part today in an excellent team performance.

For my money, frustrating though he often is, he STILL potentially offers more going forward than Lamela, because the latter is even more profligate with possession.

And my final point is, Poch agreed with me today.:p

And Townsend was taken off just after half time and we lost.

No, referring to above post about how well he played and how Poch agreed with the poster.
Look, for my money there is very little to choose between them, they are both all too often infuriating. As someone said above, the right flank is easily our weakest position. I'm not claiming that Townsend played well today, but it's interesting that Poch didn't immediately bring Lamela on for him, he waited until there was less than twenty minutes of the match remaining before introducing the Argentinian.
