the Tim Sherwood man love thread

Villa need to get goals in their side, they just don't score. Sherwood got us scoring a lot more goals, not just Adebayor, but Eriksen too. We're gonna see what he's made of in the Villa job. For this season, if he keeps them up then it's job done.

won't be difficult to outdo the 12 goals/25 games that they've done so far. not sure what's on with lambert - they are not short of firepower up front!

can't wait to play them in April at the lane. the media will be up for it i'm sure ;)

It is really stupid by Villa to appoint a young and unproven manager like Sherwood when they are in the relegation zone now. They need someone who have experience and good track record of saving teams from relegation. It is even more stupid of Sherwood to become the manager of a relegation threathened team with only 13 matches to go. If Villa end up getting relegated, it will be a big black mark on Sherwood in his first job as the manager.

I disagree.

I think this job is the best Captain Bellend could hope for. Villa (like we were) are at the bottom of a form curve with a squad far better than their results/position.

He could stand around with his thumb up his 4rse and they'd improve. In fact, all he has to do (as I jokingly suggested), is not be a complete cvnt and divide the club for a short space of time.

Come to think of it, that's probably beyond him.

I'm sure he'll get a little dead cat bounce, but this is going to be hilarious.

Without Ramsey he'll be drowning even more than usual.

If he has even half a brain-cell, he'd bring in someone who knows the job like Brian Little as #2

I think it's time he repaid the favour and gave Louise's husband a job.

Now that would be funny.

ha ha, redknapp jnr coaching

"lads, you've literally gotta score a goal"

"how do we do that coach Jamie?"

"er, er, hang on"

<pulls out cell phone, taps Dad, mumbles a bit>

"right lads, got it, literally run about a bit"

"is that it?"

<gears go into motion, remembers Liverpool sessions under souness>

"one more thing, come here so I can smack you round the head and call you a literally useless cnut"

I (somewhat naively?) believe he will achieve that much and keep Villa up a) because he only has three months which isn't enough time for him to blow it unless he learnt nothing and b) as we've established he has a squad which is better than at least three teams in the league. He is cvvnt but he is smart enough to know that this job will see him enjoy an immediate bounce factor. Surely not even he could fail to 'enjoy' that! Good luck to him. I have come to realize that his tenure with us is likely what finally convinced Levy to stop looking at clowns of that nature and back a proper man and a proper coach.

Can someone point to me where there good squad is, it keeps getting mentioned but all I see is about 5 or 6 decentish players.

Well popcorn at the ready we will see how he gets on.

Personally I think Poch and Sherwood were in agreement about what issues were effecting our club but clearly they have different styles of man management....a different way of going about things.

Either way good luck to him. He got Bentaleb involved and trusted Harry Kane towards the end of last season....he peed off a few senior players though. He did some good and some bad for us.

I reckon he will keep Villa up personally....I think he will get Benteke firing.....they will probably label him a messiah if he keeps them up and their views on him may be slightly warped after having to endure Lambert for so long.

No lose for Sherwood......keeps them up he's a GHod (he should do really with the squad they have) relegated and he can blame most of it on Lambert.

If they do survive he starts next season managing a far bigger club than West Brom, Palace or Qpr....Villa are huge and should be top 10 in the prem on a regular basis.
And everyone thinks he's thick!!!! I think he knew he was in for a shout of this job!

Guzan - solid pl keeper
Vlaar - probably their best cb....most of their defence is rank bad.
Delph - hard working cm...one of clubs better players
Carles Gil - dont know loads about him but from what I have seen looks handy and promising for fee paid
Agbon - If Sherwood can raise his game and use him effectivly then a very decent player.
Benteke- Lots of promise.....wanted us to buy him....Still do.
Weimann - Always liked this player for some reason...needs to up his game
Nzogbia - Same as gabby Agbon

I would take that over the jobs he was linked with....you have a half decent spine their... I think Burnley and Leicester will go and I rate Villa's squad more than I do QPR who I think will make up the third team to go down.

If he gets underpeforming players 'at it' and they start filling their stadium....more noise different atmosphere.....keeping them up could be fairly straightforward then straight into the summer trying to get rid of the wasters like Hutton.

This thread really shows up how immature, verging on the pathetic, some people on here really are. Pretty sad but also pretty funny (so thanks) that theyre dedicated to wasting their time posting streams of messages on someone who they dont really 'like'.

There were times (last season?) when the bolded trio looked very good, at least in the Match of the Day highlights. They could score and seemed to work well together. The potential to fix the lack of goals is there if he can repeat the Adebayor trick. If they can get the goals, the defence is adequate.

Have you never posted in the rSol thread?

I know for a fact you've posted in the AVB one.

I agree that Villa are under performing and that the likelihood is that any change in manager would see their form improve. I am looking forward to the return to mean discussions in this thread over the rest of the season.

I will be interested to see how he gets on and whether he can cut out the gonad*s that cost him the job with us. It will be interesting to see who he brings in to be part of his team.

I agree on the whole. I think that Villa have the best squad of all of the teams that Tim has been linked with and he will have an ok platform from which to build on if he manages to keep them up. Given the choice between Villa and QPR, I am sure that 90% of managers would choose Villa.

I don't have the visceral hatred of Sherwood that some do on here. I think that he did a good job with our kids and did some things right when caretaker but his inability to keep his mouth shut meant that he had to go.

I suspect that Sherwood is neither as bad a manager/coach as GB and Scara think nor as good as he thinks he is.

Here's an experienced number 2 who is on about the same level as Timmy.

It is interesting who managers appoint as their number two's.

In the summer Hypia at Brighton tried to appoint sammy lee, who then ended up at Southampton and look how that worked out.

I know for a fact that Hughton tried to get steve kean down to be his assistant manager at Brighton but he did not want to up root his family. He ended up with Spurs old boy Colin Calderwood, I will be interested to see how that works out.
