Friedel - 7 - not troubled, kept everyone calm, one moment only where Walker wanted him to come out for a cross but that's not his game, cool save from Lampard's strike.
Walker - 8 - thought he did very well defensively today up against Cole and the rotating wingers.
Gallas - 8.5 - happy to have him back, showed leadership telling players what to do and won headers up against Drogba, keeping him mostly quiet
Kaboul - 7 - wasn't troubled much and a decent surging run in the second half
Ekotto - 6.5 - happy birthday disco, but got caught out a couple of times however most of the play came down his end
Bale - 6 - stayed out left which allowed us to play centrally more although his contribution was not the best, too many shots where a lay-off would have been better. unlucky with his header against the post.
Modric - 8 - showed why Chelsea wanted him, kept the side ticking and excellent assist for VDV which was unfortunately missed
Parker - 7 - played in front of the back 4 which is what his position should always be and shielded the team well, covering all positions when players were out of them
Sandro - 6 - didn't do too much but seemed to play alongside modric in front of parker and man marked Lampard well
VDV - 8 - good game by Rafael but wish he had scored from 10 yards, didn't misplace a pass.
Ade - 8.5 - I wish his first touch was better, he would have beaten Cech one on one if it was however his hold up play was excellent, brought people into play and won almost all headers.
Livermore - 6 - took over from Sandro and carried on his job
Saha - 6 - fresh legs but not much to do.

Walker - 6, not sure how he got man of the match, especially considering his almost disasterous lack of judgement on their post hitting free kick!
Gallas - 7, our best defender on the day comfortably but very lucky not to have conceded a pen.
Kaboul - 4, absolute liability. Three really bad mistakes, one that should've accumulated in a penalty and another where Parker really saved his bacon.
Ekotto - 5, maybe thinking about his birthday. Would explain why he switched off so much. Gifted Chelsea a great chance, but Parker bailed him out and is definitely owed some cake!
VDV - 7, thought he played really well today and was very disciplined
Sandro - 5, struggled to be involved and gave it away cheaply too often
Parker - 9, MOM. His first half performance alone warranted it but in the second half he was also defensively excellent. Like VDV a much more discplined performance too.
Modric 7, thought he was very poor in the first half, but absolutely outstanding in the second half
Bale 6, thought he was a threat and kept trying things. Not much came off for him today though.
Ade 6, struggled on his own up top but came into the game a lot more when Saha came on. Overall though he did waste some good possession and really should've buried the one on one.
Saha 7, made a positive impact
Livermore 6, didn't really get involved
Redknapp 8, did exactly what I said he was doing in the OMT. Play tight for 75 mins, play for the draw and then the last 10/15 mins go for it and see if you can sneak a win. Almost worked too.

I loved Ade's play today, but how many times this season have you thought to yourself, wow, if only he struck that a little better that would be an easy goal? even goals he scored earlier in the year were effete efforts that just happened to go in. It's like he has no confidence with his shot whatsoever.

no you got it wrong and you can't even admit it. Yes we played tight but you don't have to be a rocket scientist to know we were going to play it tight going away to Chelsea. the fact is we created far more than they did playing such an ultra defensive tactic (thats what you call it yes?). They created fudge all.
You got it wrong. You saw the team selection and moaned about it being a defeatist atitude by Arry and now you're somehow trying to claim you knew this was gonna happen all along?

One goal on either side would have made such a difference to the ratings that will appear on here today. On one hand, it was a boring game with some heart in the mouth moments at the wrong end. On the other, we dominated possession for large chunks of the game and had all of the best chances.
Friedel - 7 - No real saves to make, looked composed and reassuring at the back
Walker - 8 - MOTM for me, solid in defence and helped support the attack, unlucky not to score too
Gallas - 7 - A couple of nervy moments, but generally quite good and stepped up as a leader to the defence
Kaboul - 7 - Also pretty solid
Assou-Ekotto - 7 - Good
Parker - 7 - Made it very difficult for Chelsea to break us down
Sandro - 6 - Good defensively but offered nothing going forward when he tried

VdV - 6.5 - He tries,but just like Kranjcar,RM/RW is simply not his position and should have done better with the chance he had.Set pieces were good
