I understand why clubs wait until the last day of the transfer window to do their business. From a football point of view, though, it makes life difficult.

Liverpool did not wait until the last day of the window to try to wring the last penny out of the Suarez deal. They got it done, started investing the money and now have most of their squad in place.

As for my former club Spurs, the criticism has been that they have not bought enough yet. Fair enough, but my concern would be they have not trimmed the size of the squad by selling players.

The best time to reshape a squad is not in the last two weeks of August.

Re: Tim Sherwood season preview....a few digs aimed at Levy methinks

What about: Someone reminded me of what Pochettino said when Southampton lost to my Spurs team in October. Apparently, he said that while Southampton were a “young team”, Spurs were “equipped to win the Premier League”. Given that he has not had to sell any big players this summer, in the way that the club lost Gareth Bale a year ago, and the seven new signings have had a year to settle, I can only presume he believes that Spurs can win the title this season too.

dig at Poch too:) cleverly piling the pressure on Poch

Re: Tim Sherwood season preview....a few digs aimed at Levy methinks

There's no pressure on Pochettino to win the title at Spurs, at least not this season.

However, if he truly believes that the current crop of players could challenge for the title then he has a lot more faith in them than their previous manager, who frequently criticised them in public, highlighting their shortcomings. All Sherwood is doing is showing that he was in no way equipped to manage a team, Premier League or not.

Re: Tim Sherwood season preview....a few digs aimed at Levy methinks

Lol, I never even bothered to read it when I saw it pop up on the news feed. Instantly knew it wasn't going to be a realistic report about our chances and more of a dig at us. Not that it matters. All we have heard all summer is how Liverpool are determined not to do a "Spurs". Rodgers for what it's worth hasn't been sounding off in our direction, but the journo's love to lead the conversation and then drop the "Rodgers says Liverpool won't do a Spurs" spread.

Did Sherwood go on to say how he would've had our squad trimmed?? I'm sure our pre season wouldn't have looked half as nice with Holtby and Capoue playing for different clubs.

Re: Tim Sherwood season preview....a few digs aimed at Levy methinks

Pretty sure Sherwood said in the December window, we didn't need to strengthen and he was happy with the squad as it was!

Re: Tim Sherwood season preview....a few digs aimed at Levy methinks

You're right he did say that, then went on to criticise some of that squad publicly a couple of months later!

IMO these players did not want to play for a manager who clearly knew nothing about managing a group of players

Re: Tim Sherwood season preview....a few digs aimed at Levy methinks

I love that it's all my club my spurs my team blah blah blah and then "They made 21 errors"

Re: Tim Sherwood season preview....a few digs aimed at Levy methinks

Who? I thought it was a forest in the Nottingham region...

Re: Tim Sherwood season preview....a few digs aimed at Levy methinks

"There are a lot of good managers looking for work and I am certainly one of them" - Tim Sherwood.

Re: Tim Sherwood season preview....a few digs aimed at Levy methinks

Merson's such a ****!

you know what, Merson doesnt try to act like a clever cnut....he knows what he is, a simple minded bloke with serious addiction problems. He knows his limitations. Its people like Sherwood who are real cnuts, think they are sooooo smart and try to fool everyone around them with their chat and smart alec comments:-&

Re: Tim Sherwood season preview....a few digs aimed at Levy methinks

I'm actually shocked that TS keeps making himself look like an idiot. Hasn't he got some advicors telling him nicely not to use every chance to have a dig at Spurs? He surely wont get more attractive jobs by being a c***. Maybe supporters of other clubs will laugh, but I dont think they look at him as a class act... For me he is thick like a brick, never seen anything like this.

Re: Tim Sherwood season preview....a few digs aimed at Levy methinks

I think TS should go to palace, so he can show he is a c***, then he can F off for good.

Re: Tim Sherwood season preview....a few digs aimed at Levy methinks

Employ Tim Sherwood. You too can be ****ged off in the press 6 months later
