Ratings v Stoke

Mulletperm

Mauricio Taricco
Friedel - 6. Had fudge all to do except get the ball out of the net

Walker - 6. Got forward well and handled having no cover in front of him. Needs to cross quicker.
Kaboul - 6. Done fairly well against Crouch I though
King - 5. Couple of dodgy clearances and looked a little shakey
BAE - 7. Cool as a cucumber and for forward well.

Kranjcar - 4. Obviously unfit and so slow.
Parker - 5. Stupid foul for the free-kick they scored from. Seemed to slow play down a lot.
Modric - 5. Strangely innefective. Poor passing/distribution.
Bale - 7. Looked dangerous, wish he'd stick on the wing more.

Saha - 4. Pretty awful.
VdV - 7. Some great runs into the box, and a wonderful header.

Subs:
Defoe - 6. At least looked like he gave a damn, unlike Saha
GDS - 3. Done nothing
Nelsen - n/a

Brad 8 - The only player who wanted to get the ball out and moving
BAE 7 - Kept at it, trying to create
King - 5
Kaboul -6
Walker -6
Modric - 5
Parker - 5
Bale - 5
Niko - 5
VDV - 7
Defoe - 6
Saha - 3

On a side note, Bale and Modric are reputed to be worth 100M combined. Where is that "world class" when the chips are down???

My streaming was so crap i cant rate this.

I am not very happy with redknapp choices. Why play saha for 70minutes and then take him off? He should be coming on at the end to grab one, not starting.

Set pieces!! Whats going on? are they trainning?

Nelsen doesnt look like a footballer. And what does he expect from Dos Santos? doesnt play him for months and then gives him 20 minutes? ridiculous.

Did he touch the ball more than once? Saha was shocking, but at least pulled a save out of their keeper.

Not touching the ball would have been an improvement for Saha. Everytime he went near it he killed our momentum by giving the ball away

Friedel - 6 - Not much to do, distribution ok

Walker - 6 - Was keen to get forward but his delivery was poor
Kaboul - 7 - Did ok
King - 6 - Looking a bit shaky. Shouldn't have played imo.
Assou-Ekotto - 8 - Thought he actually had a good game going forward

Kranjcar - 4 - Anonymous
Parker - 5 - Worked hard but no end product to anything he was doing
Modric - 5 - Some uncharacteristically slopping passing
Bale - 5 - Two good long shots but generally quite poor I thought

VdV - 6 - Mostly poor, how many shocking set-pieces? But a well taken goal at the end to earn us a point.
Saha - 4 - He is not a target man. Why do we try and play like he is? Looked ok in the first half but was pants in the second.

Subs:
Defoe - 5 - Don't remember him doing anything
GDS - 4 - Didn't do much, although having a fast wide player helped our formation
Nelsen - N/A

Pressure was on and it needed a big performance especially as we have been so poor for the last couple of months and our rivals breathing down our necks and we get served up that pile of brick. I wouldnt even bother putting in the effort to rate them. I just hope none of them think at the end of the season that they are too big for us, when they are part of performances like that...

Krankjar did one sumptuous pass to Parker, when Parker slipped, which was well worth a goal. Thought he was no worse than the other midfielders. Modders was well off his normal game unfortunately, lots of sloppy play. As for the lack of short corner routines, don't get me started!

Modric, VdV, Walker and perhaps Ekotto (for effort, not quality) can be satisfied. Kaboul did ok, I suppose.

In particular Saha and Krancjar should darn well be ashamed. Parker and Walker were all huff and puff. I never saw Defoe and Gio on the ball at all.

What has Ledley got to do with anything?

The whole midfield+strikers were runningaround like headless chickens and no coordination; We have better front 6 than United but they have coordination and movement while we have run around and give the ball to Bale and hope for the best.

Aiite let's get into this:

Friedel - 6. Hardly anything to do.

BAE - 7. Actually one of our best players I thought. Mostly solid defensively and put some good balls in too. Criminally ignored at times by our team. MOTM for me actually.
King - 5.5. Ok, composed in parts, but a couple of worrying lapses. Not Ledley's best game... to go with a couple of eh recent performances. Starting to worry about our mighty King.
Kaboul - 7. Thought Younes had a good game. Won a lot in the air, against a very aerially strong team, dominant on the deck, couple of good bursts offensively.
Walker - 6.5. Very solid defensively. Some excellent bits of skill and runs offensively. Loses a half mark due to his absolutely woeful final ball.

Niko - 5. Didn't do much whatsoever. Couple of decent through balls. Not found enough by team-mates I thought, though./
Parker - 5.5. Pretty decent job defensively.... limited offensively though. Has drive and ambition, but at times in a Jamie O'Hara way, in that he tries things he simply ain't good enough to accomplish. And this is a problem in these types of games. It shows. And when he loses discipline, charging forward (normally giving it away), we're usually wide open to get countered.
Modric - 6. I felt sorry for Luka personally. He was clearly trying so hard to make brick happen but it just... wasn't. Got into some good shooting positions, probably should have done better at times. Passing not as crisp as his norm. Some really sick touches as usual.
Bale - 6. Bizarre game from Bale. He was doing my fudging nut with his roaming, at times we were so CRIMINALLY unbalanced it was unreal, and plain for everyone to see. He also kept ignoring teammates (especially Benny) who were in better positions - it was very selfish at times. Having said all of this.... he was still the player who made the most happen!! Immense cross for the goal - which should tell Bale what he should stick to doing - and couple of excellent shots also.

VDV - 6. Great header for his goal, just the guy you want in that position. Otherwise, marginal influence, at times showed his frustration, some clever runs often not appreciated by team mates, too often played too deep (as per usual).
Saha - 4. Apart from one very good shot... very, very anonymous. Ball bounced off him for fun. Didn't show enough. Gave it away, for fun.

subs: JD - 5. Very little impact.
GDS - 5. As per the above.

I didn't think we were that bad. Of course the game was sloppy but I think the players worked as hard as ever.

Friedel - 6 - Good distribution for once

Walker - 6 - Worked hard in attack and defence
Kaboul - 6 - Did ok
King - 7 - dealt very well with them on the floor, battled with Crouch well.
Assou-Ekotto - 7.5 - strong in defence solid in attack

Kranjcar - 5 - not suited for these type of games, bad choice by redknapp. Lacked energy and penetration
Parker - 4 - typical parker performance, dogged and determined without direction or thought. Characteristic error for their free kick.
Modric - 7 - Made space very well for himself linked up the play, not helped by parker slowing stuff down and bursting forward.
Bale - 7 - Took on there team well, stoke defended very well from crosses however, a different team and it would have been a different story.

VdV - 7 - worked hard in defence, found space in attack, scored a goal
Saha - 4- Bad hold up play

Subs:
Defoe - 5 - fought hard but didn't get the service.
GDS - n/a
Nelsen - N/A

Friedel - 6 - Spectator really.

Walker - 7 - Probably one of our best on the night but no real end product.
Kaboul - 7 - Solid and tried a few sorties down the right towards the end.
King - 6 - He's not the man he used to be.
Assou-Ekotto - 7 - Not too bad going forward and decent in defense. A welcome return to form I'd say.

Kranjcar - 3 - Not sharp enough in every sense of the world (except looks)
Parker - 4 - Parker has shot his load. Looks a shadow of the player from earlier in the season. Time to start playing Sandro.
Modric -5 - Better than Parker but not by much. I thought he was pedestrian today and is so much better than that.
Bale - 6 - Probably our best attacking threat. He was trying to make things happen but ended up making wrong choices. Nice cross for the goal though.

VdV - 6 - Looks a bit rusty but he cared at least. We desperately needed that goal to stop our season going down the toilet.
Saha - 4 - Not good enough.

Subs:
Defoe - 4 - Not good enough
GDS - 4 - Not good enough

We really struggle against those park the bus teams and this I put down to the coaching. We need to come up with ways to break through against teams like this.

For some reason I think that goal has saved our season but I don't know why. It's just a point instead of nothing but it might just rekindle our fighting spirit which has disappeared of late.
