What year are we in?

spurs' magna carter

Ronnie Rosenthal
- Us Yids have spent most of the season waiting in anticipation for a new managerial annoucement whilst hating the caretaker (official or unofficial title)

- Our season has been deemed a failure and disgrace.

- We await a summer of rebuilding, from top to bottom.

- Leeds face financial oblivion.

- Chelsea lost a CL S/F leg 3-1

2014 or 2004? :-k

Things are no way as bad as they were in 2004.

In 2004 we'd been in the lurch for so long (all my life in fact) that when we finished 5th two seasons in a row it was like seeing a person in poverty suddenly become rich.

Guess some people have short memories, and on the note of Leeds being in turmoil I think that's one hell of a reason not to spend money we don't have. Leeds gambled away a huge fan base (still big but is smaller) and their standard Premier League place to try and cut time on regaining a Champions League place.

Risdale says that Leeds fans were "living the dream" but I think if you were to ask any Leeds fan if a few years in the Champions League were worth 10 years (and counting!) in the lurch they'd beg to differ.

I haven't got a short memory, I was there when we drew 4-4 with Leicester (03/04) and think we have come a long way since. In fact I still back Levy & ENIC.

My main point with this thread is the strange similarities, totally different circumstances but still some what similar, between then and now. Take this for example.

- Being linked with an international manager (Trapattoni, remember that saga?) throughout the season with it seen as a dead cert by many only to see his head turned by a much bigger club.

Whilst Leeds are in financial crisis, changes to everything at Spurs are being talked about and Chelsea lost a CL S/F leg 3-1 (Monaco/Atletico).

I wasn't insinuating that you do, some of this board however appear too (or is it to? Sorry grammarholics)

There are quite a few similarities. I just hope in ten years time we're talking of the strange similarties with the 'big changes' at Spurs being how do we develop from a top four club to one which win the league. Hopefully ten years after that we'll be talking about how to go on from league winning regulars to winning the Champions League. :p
