Ledley King

They might have planned it a week or two too early, as the Spanish sides are still playing (no Bale or Modric).
Not sure about the players out in the US, but I'd think that people like Keane and Defoe would be names for King's team

I think the date might have been chosen to fit in some high profile players.

We have a game on the 11th May don't we! Home to Villa. Strange to have it the next day.

Doubt we see Bale, Spanish season finishes week after... the 18th.

Thought I'd put together the fixtures for some of the teams who's players may be involved.

May

10th - NY Red Bulls, Hamburg, AS Monaco
11th - Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy
12th - Kings Testimonial

Toronto aren't playing the weekend before Kings game so Defoe should definitely be available. Keane's game with LA Galaxy is at 11:30am PDT so 7:30pm our time, plus a 9 hour flight. He may feature, I hope he does.

Pity about the short notice, but I suppose they can't please everybody. I'm going to the Villa game, then flying home on Monday.

Maybe King should pick Sherwood, then let Capoue and Holtby go against him.

It would be like one of those staff-student end of year matches at school where everyone got to go in heavy on the knobhead teacher.

Like Monty Python in the meaning of life, student v teachers game?!

Disclaimer: I don't share your opinion's on Sherwood though, in case anyone from the club is reading!

Similar thing for us too, staying over on the Saturday for the Villa game, but have to be back home for work on the Monday, gutted to miss it, was hoping it might have been the 18th or 25th

driving down from notts for this one! 3 seats in block 40. first time i'm taking my fiancee and best mate to the lane each! should be awesome

You must have a fair few yawns sorry yarns between you then. :)

My Grandfather never stopped complaining that players like Hoddle, Ardiles, Crooks & Archibald weren't a patch on Dimmock, Seed, Grimsdell & Clay.

My Dad moaned that they weren't as good as Blanchflower, Mackay, White & Greaves.

Hope it sells out, its the least he deserves really as a final send off. Slightly disappointed it is going to be against a Spurs XI, was hoping it would have been against a team prominent in his career, possibly an Arsenal XI with Henry, Seaman and Bergkamp etc

He was right about Crooks and Archibald anyway.

I can't believe there are still loads of seats on sale for this!

Possibly, could be the ko time. Monday night will cause problems for a fair few fans, particularly the longer distance travellers.
It still may well sell out come the day, but I am convinced it would have done for sure had it been a weekend game.

My thought was it would have replaced our annual pre-season home friendly in August say Sunday 10th, (just in case we end up the 3rd qual of the Europa). That match normally gets around the 30k mark, would have been a sell-out had it been for the LK Testimonial
