Draxler

Very much doubt that Draxler will go to L'**** now maybe at the end of the season but not in January. He had the chance to go last Summer but didn't take it which is why I thought they went on to sign Ozil. I can also see one of the petrodollar clubs coming in for him or even one of la liga giants.

They have German players in Ozil, Podolski and Mertesacker who are all well known in the German national team. As well as two very promising young Germans in Eisfed and Gnabry. Draxler would fit right in and it looks like Wenger is trying to go for a German team who are known for their excellent work rate as well as natural ability. He had his French side in the 90s/00s when they dominated football and now it looks like he's going with Germany.

If they really do pay 40M for him after paying 45M for Ozil, I don't care how good he is, they (or Wenger) would really be a joke.

They have a good squad no doubt, but they are a Mertersacker injury away from disaster at the back imo. Plus Giroud is good for how they play, but imagine if they had somebody in the same mould with a better chance conversion ratio, plus more pace. They'd be lethal.

As it stands, how many midfielders can they possibly play? Maybe the story is jumping the gun a little and he'll join them in the summer instead

I disagree with this statement, mmmm probably about as much as it is humanly possible to.

Saving for years, building a settle and competant unit, then going big and supplementing that with one world class player and one rising star makes them a joke? That makes them compete for top honours again is what that does. Both players together cost less than the shower of craap we wasted 100 million on in the Summer.

I'm sorry, but if any club looks foolish over this seasons transfer dealings it certainly isn't Arsenal.

Perhaps Wenger is planning on turning Draxler into a striker, like he did with Henry and RvP :-k

who is better between draxler and lamela?

Both very different players in my view.

But if you asked me who I'd rather have at the time we signed Lamela,, I'd have said Draxler as I feel he would have suited us better at the time and would have been more a replacement for Bale than Lamela was. He's more... ready, even if he is a year younger.

how are they VERY different? or are they the same player type but with a different skill set? what sets them apart?

going by you whole getting overly excited and saying lamela was a cross between robben and bale (i understand why you said that by the way, i just think the boy has a confidence problem) the idea was that lamela was ready this season...how can you be sure this kid is 'more ready' ?

i'm trying to guage what arsenal are getting and if we should truly be worried or if they are just saturating themselves with the same type of players all over the pitch.

Draxler is more powerful. I remember you saying Lamela reminds you abit of Pires? Draxler reminds me a bit of van Persie. No idea why we are comparing both to scum players but hey, it's what I think

I wouldn't really say he was a cross of Bale, I think he could potentially be as good as Bale with some bulking up, he certainly reminds me of Robben though, just for me Robben never lacked confidence, the ball would stick to his foot like glue and he'd continously run at the defence. For me, Draxler is much more confident on the ball and I'd say better too. At times, Lamela looks out of control with the ball (once again, could be confidence). I've seen Lamela WAY more times than I have seen Draxler and I've always thought Draxler was better.

Saw this on goal (yeah I know)

WENGER RULES OUT DRAXLER SIGNING

The Arsenal manager has revealed the club will NOT be singing Julian Draxler this window, adding to reporters: "The Draxler situation has been created by the newspapers, not by me. He will stay at Schalke."

However it was just after this quote

Manager Arsene Wenger is currently speaking to reporters in a press conference, and has confirmed the Gunners are still looking for a late signing: "We are still trying to bring one body in because of Ramsey's setback and Flamini's suspension."

Arsenal are working on a deal to sign Sweden midfielder Kim Kallstrom on loan until the end of the season from Russian club Spartak Moscow.
The 31-year-old would provide cover for the injured Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wheelchair, with Mathieu Flamini suspended for the next three games.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger ruled out buying Schalke's Julian Draxler, but revealed he wanted a new midfielder.
"We are trying to bring one body in because of Ramsey's setback," he said.

Arsenal are confident the transfer of Kallstrom will be completed by the 23:00 GMT deadline.

Emmanuel Frimpong
Championship strugglers Barnsley have completed the signing of Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong for an undisclosed fee. Emmanuel looks delighted with the move to South Yorkshire. 'Dench' indeed.

right okay, i see what you mean....a more power and confident version of lamela with better ball skills does really put this draxler kid into a bit of perspective
