****OMT - TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs WOOLWICH ARSEnal****

Danny Rose just isn't good enough. He's average at best defensively but he isn't even that good going forward to compensate for it. The club must see something in him but I struggle to see what, especially when we have a far better defender and superior football in Ekotto playing on loan for a Championship club, it's baffling.

I agree entirely. Which is a nice change.

=D>=D>=D>

What's more, I'll bet the heroes who threw coins at Walnut feel brave and clever. f ucking numpty pussies!

I hope the 2 clubs can work out who the ****ers were and ban them for life

it's probably a couple of season ticket holders bearing in mind the allocation

Regardless of some individual defensive mistakes, it was our inability to put the ball in the back of the net which cost us dear yesterday.

The thing is mate, those numpties are the same numpties as to why we never got the full 15% allocation and it justifies the reasoning behind it - that we would cause trouble. Its giving those ****s ammunition to turn around and continue to give us a measly 10%

Danny Rose is a v.good full back, who has gad 2 bad games in a row, imo.

I think he is a good full back mate, rather than very good, but BAE is far better technically. Hence if we want to play a technical passing game we need him back playing for us. Actually the most disappointing thing for me today was hearing that we are not recalling him.

If it's a choice between two players that aren't quite good enough I'd rather we played the one with potential than the one that is past it and only going to get worse.

I'm hearing from BAE's Twitter account that there's no plans for him to return from his loan at QPR this month.

We had a fair amount of possession but on the whole our attacking play was slow, ponderous, lacked cutting edge. Lots of passes out to Rose which resulted in nothing. I was just saying that the **** seemed more direct in their attacking, when they scored the first.
I like having Eriksen in the team, but the comparison is VDV: when Eriksen raises his game to help us win against the ****, that is when he will become the player we need.
Goals change games though and I suppose we did have several chances...

We had plenty of possession, it looked to me like we just don't have a clue what to do with it, no one seemed to be on anyone else's wavelength, no anticipation of a pass or vice versa no anticipation of a run. arsenal we're happy conceding possession (so I would ignore using that stat as some sort of badge of merit) because they quickly realised we weren't able to do anything cohesive when we did have the ball.

also, wasnt he one of sunderland's best players last season? that combined with his age gives me hope that he could potentially be a top player soon.

I agree. I mentioned it earlier: playing football in the manner we have historically championed and the manner we have helped create is vital if we are to be worthy winners. But the right attitude is not being 'dignified', as you rather quaintly pointed out: it's being aggressive, bitchy, unrelenting. It's never wanting to lose anything, be it a 50:50 or a cup game.

Very good points. Cazorla did just enough to ruin Dembele(?)'s run in the first half and Vermaelen took a booking.

No way would an Arsenal player have let that 2nd goal happen. They would have tripped up and taken the chance on a pen. Walcott lay down because he wanted the ref to be aware of the Chiriches tackle. All percentage stuff to gain each and every advantage.

And I was thinking that either the FA Cup 3rd round needs to be postponed a week or there has to be seeding for the 3rd round because no way did either side throw 100% into that game or could they with those tired legs.

That game could have turned into a classic with the same players but rested.

Couldn't stand it if the FA cup became seeded - more protection for the 'big' boys is the last thing we need.

I would like to see it a week later as well but not sure how the calendar fits later on with replays, league cup and then Europe. I'd also like to see a mid-winter break of 2 or 3 weeks between the 3rd and 4th rounds (except for league cup semis) but again this might not be possible unless we drop 2 teams from the EPL

I think that one either has to drop two teams from the league or drop the league cup. The fact that we haven't had a single midweek free so far says it all. Alternatively do as they've done in Germany and have the league cup as a pre-season tournament.

I love 2 games a week!! Should give us the chance to keep the kids and squad players motivated.

But if this fixture had been an EPL game I think we would have rested a couple and got a better result.

Well.. we've got some now, as well as a blank weekend on Jan 24th and Feb 15th, but those could come in very handy right now.
I will very disappointed if we dont have a fully-fit squad, apart from Paulinho, by the time we play City at the end of the month

Solid enough performance I thought. Arsenal deserved the win, but we weren't outplayed and all in all I find it hard to complain about what the players did.

Think Eriksen might need a slight break, haven't been at his best lately. Bentaleb was very good I thought, massive positive. Rose had a real off day.

I understand we have injuries, which is why I'm not fearful of our future under Tim based on this game. But I am curious as to why most people are just shrugging this game off while others where we've been much better in have taken the rage of the fans.

As I said previously, it all depends on the prism you are looking through. I must say mate some of your hyperbole in this game is perplexing. Take a step back and look at it objectively for a moment. This was nowhere near as bad a performance as you and others make out. Certainly MUCH better than the 0-1 defeat there earlier this season where we never created a single chance.

So we lost away against one of, if not, the best sides in the country, who are currently top of the league and boast the best defensive record. Were we seriously outplayed? Not in my view. We created plenty of chances and half chances. If Ade and Solly had their shooting boots on, we win that game. We lost to two defensive errors - one a complete mistake. An open game that, while the **** deserved to win, could have gone either way with a bit of good fortune on our side IMO.

Taking all the other factors into account ( as have been dealt with at length on here by others) really not too bad at all. Cheer up. Only three days previously we had beaten the reigning champions on their own patch. Buy a top striker this window (i have only said that for the last three january windows!) to compete with Ade, and a left back, and when our injuries recover, we are good to go. Hang on. The future is bright.
