OMT Tottenham Hotspur Vs Emirates Marketing Project

I would blame individual errors

Are you having a laugh? We were shambolic at the back. Look at the space City had for two of their missed chances in the first half. The one Lloris stood tall and saved and the one where Sandro made an amazing tackle.

The space City had was criminal. That's lack of proper organisation from the manager. I was going to post at 1-0 that I could see an Ossie type score when City thumped us 5-2. We looked all over the shop with Sandro left to try and shield a ropey back four on his own. That was down to the ineptitude of the manager and his tactics and organisation.

Your post only makes sense if you mean individual in the sense that AVB as an individual made the mistakes which embarrassed us today.

No, Dawson+Kaboul+vert all below their own standard. AVB's fault would be picking dawson+kaboul partnership, which absolutely overrun by their forwards

The 90s are back in fashion

Maybe this is the "brand" Levy has been on about?

Mediocre football with an over hyped one season wonder foreign manager and we'll finish 9th.
Oh, and an unheard of US brand trying to break into the UK market making the kit thrown in!
Well spotted. Forget about AvB, we have played our worst non-scoring football under Hewlett Packard. HP Out!

can't believe I didn't watch this game, but glad I didn't. however, I will catch it soon because I think we just seem to lack any conviction going forward, which just spreads through the rest of the team and confidence saps really quickly once we le them in.

As a comparison, l'**** got shafted 8-2 at manyoo not too long ago, wenger was facing same, if not worse, than AvB is and will be facing now. Trouble is, wenger has a lot of experience in the league - now the proof in the tasting for AvB, see what happens next. Still focus on defence, which isn't wrong, or figure out a way to get offensively threatening so the oppo isn't putting us on the back foot, and we actually figure out a way to start winning again.

I think Paulinho must be knackered, rest him ... and figure it out, who and whom should be in the middle. We have good and great players, now it's about mental fortitude and the manager getting the players self respect and confidence back again. All that pre-match hype about how well we did at eastlands - that was from a looong time ago, mark hughes and before him - we are quickly being shown the trademan's exit by teams like Emirates Marketing Project and the chavs.

GHod, this result makes me feel sick - we just cannot score too ...

You've got to be joking. Sandro should go in and kick the sh!t out of AVB because he was left completely exposed today. Paulinho was p!ss poor again. Holtby was dreadful again. Soldado was terrible again.

These aren't bad players but they are being made look bad by a manager who is putting them into a system and style of play that is as ineffective as it is boring to watch.

We were set up badly and that exposed people like Dawson and Kaboul who were also very, very poor. That's down to the manager.

NoI dont agree, how many tackles/headers/offside traps/fouls did these two guys make? Kaboul couldnt even make a body challenge against agurero. The rest imo they are okay.

1. I was not assuming never played football, if i would have said : " I you had played football you would have known that... ", that's a bit different to what I said isn't it ?
2. Of course the manager has a more important role at a top level, but in the end it's you and your team on the field, not the manager. Furthermore except for 1 or 2 players, everyone play in the position and have the roles they are most suited too. In the end it's MOST about you're ability on the ball and the quality a team has. As far as I'm concerned you could have put a monkey on the City bench and they still would have won this match...

maybe something lost in translation re; point 1, but if you re-read your post it seems to make an assumption

as for your 2nd point - bit naive to make that having not watched the game as a few players were playing out of position today.
and yes, of course the players have to take responsibility - but if they are being asked to play a game that is not their what they are suited to, it will be difficult t o perform and win at the HIGHEST level.

i repeat, the players do look lost at the moment and like they have no idea what to do in the formation and tactics we play - players are professionals and not just going to "do their own thing" on the pitch as 1. their job is do what the manager says and 2. it would likely be shambolic.
it is very clear (well, for anyone that watches the game - you might want to try that before offering tactical analysis btw) that our current tactics stifle creativity and restrict space and angles to make things happen

I had the opportunity to watch the 2nd half but didn't because I didn't want to see us getting thrashed. As for "tactics stifle creativity and restrict space and angles to make things happen", if you have class players they will make something happen out of nothing, that's what great players do, we do not have class 1 players in the midfield to make those things happen. You really can't teach class, so I think AVB biggest fault was buying players that would not bring a boost for the team in midfield...

Cant wait to see how AVB's love child will defend this on here !

Who are you talking about? Name a name, PM the person or don't bother with goading people. It's too tough a day for this sort of **** my friend, either stand up or be quiet.

now you are starting to contradict yourself - i thought it was all the players fault?
now its IS the managers fault, but for buying the wrong players!?!?
make your mind up.

i have said from the start this formation only works with the top top players - which is why the likes of Bayern can use it.
so........AVB needs to adapt and play with the players HE HAS.
he isn't doing that and the players are looking lost and clueless

Woeful. Shambolic. Disastrous. Any bigger words I can use to describe that today?

We conceded ridiculously early but I don't think that's a fair excuse. We still had 90 minutes and still attempted to execute our original gameplan thereafter. Which was wrong. Mainly because Paulinho is given far too much freedom from his midfield position. You can - and we did - get away with it sometimes against sides such as Cardiff and Crystal Palace, but away at Emirates Marketing Project it is a disaster of a decision. He needs to show more discipline. Sympathy for Sandro who had to hold the fort in our midfield all by himself first-half. Paulinho tries lots of positive things, but very little have come off for us yet. You can accept that from a £7m squad player, but a £17m first-teamer should be more productive considering how much he tries to pull off unlikely moves.

AVB got his tactics wrong, we were way too open. The players were largely to blame too, of course. They didn't seem overly bothered by conceding goal after goal. Below are my ratings:

Lloris: 4 - a top keeper who had a nightmare. It happens. Two costly errors, generally a bad day at the office with his kicking and not pulling off any particularly good saves.
Walker: 6 - our best defender on the day. He has poor awareness but I cannot fault him too much today because he was one of the few who seemed to care and carried on trying well after the game was lost.
Kaboul: 5 - poor from Kabs, he gets caught out positionally a lot by intelligent strikers. Will deal well with Lukaku, Benteke and players of their ilk, but against top strikers with movement such as Aguero, Suarez and RVP he gets shown up a bit, especially since his horrific injury.
Dawson: 4 - honestly lost count of how many times he gave the ball away/was out of position. Very limited defender, if it wasn't for his leadership skills he would be 4th choice centre-half here.
Vertonghen: 4 - equally as bad, albeit out of position. Out of sorts. Offered little going forward and constantly gave up whenever a player ran past him. Seriously, our fanbase needs to stop being so kind to Jan. Good on the ball but error prone.
Sandro: 6 - up against it from the get go. Was a bit rash at times but he was completely exposed due to Paulinho being caught high up the pitch. Put in the effort.
Paulinho: 3 - by far his worst game in a Spurs shirt, deserved to be hauled off at the interval. Whatever he tried, it didn't come off. And he made some bad decisions in good areas. Needs a rest/to be dropped for a while.
Lamela: 4 - he's not a left winger, never has been. Just isn't the type of player to skin his man on the outside, prefers moving in centrally. Didn't link the play well enough, but he'll get better I'm sure of that (although worryingly it feels like he really doesn't want to be here)
Holtby: 4 - dreadful. Offers little creativity. Presses a bit and people like him for it, but the main thing in that position is linking the play and he's average at it.
Lennon: 5 - always chased back (well, until the last ten mins), so put in the graft but lacked quality. Lack of gametime probably pays to that.
Soldado: 5 - didn't get a touch hardly. Again slow and ponderous in possession, but hardly got any service (again). We know he's not the right striker for us, he knows it too.
Dembele: 6 - some poor decisions but equally he put in effort and actually tested their keeper (in the loosest term possible).
Adebayor: 5 - missed a great chance. Didn't do much else. Glad to see him back in the fold even if he's an **** - we need a player who offers what he does.
Sigurdsson: 5 - average. He's exactly that - an average player who will score some cracking goals from time to time. Would have fit in well in our mid-2000 team.

AVB: 3/10 - gave us Lamela but in the wrong position. Chiriches undeservedly dropped from the eleven. Questionable tactics, again.

Us away fans: 7/10 - majority of us stayed and sang our hearts out at 3-0. Shame some felt the need to up and leave but I guess that is to be expected in such dire circumstances.

Emirates Marketing Project a good side, as you would expect given how much they've spent over the last few years. Were without key players like Kompany, Silva and Hart too, dread to think how it would have ended if Silva was there.

Dembele up front. Keep him there

I agree .

It just seems logical with us being a little lightweight upfront with the solitary Soldado. We need him to be the man nearest to the small forward. The ball sticks to his left leg and he's hard to knock off the ball so he will definitely win us plenty of free kicks off panicking defensive tackles. We alos have to train him to shoot ( keep Sir Les away from him ) and encourage him to attempt those slide rule passes without fear of losing possession. I really feel he will make an impact for us further up the field if played this way.

Exactly have Sandro to hold and maybe play hoktby as well (Paulinho has been shocking of late) with Lennon Townsend on the wings

Freund will get us playing football.

When you look at our coaches on the bench you have to wonder where the inspiration and know how for our attacking play is . Freund as much as we all love him, never scored a goal for us and perhaps netted just the one in his career with Dortmund? He managed the German national youth teams?

What about the two of, Luis Martins and Jose Rocha? Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think either of them have recognition in the game of being innovators of attacking play?

Perhaps AVB needs to make an addition to the coaching staff to counter his cautionary instincts, someone like Ardiles or a Bergkamp ( are just suggestions but of that ilk ) but then personal pride may well come into it and that won't happen.

Ah I've just realised . You mean, replace AVB with Freund :-k

Massive for AVB to turn this around but we cant give up on him just yet and as others have said, Anfield 7-0 and Burkinshaw pushed on and so too did Wenger after 8-2.

Absolutely pathetic display. Worst away game I've ever been to. Shambolic defending. I'm convinced we don't practice offensive football in training, we have no fecking clue how to score. Things need to improve, quickly.

I just feel our players need to be encouraged to make the risky quicker pass in the opponents third . Losing the ball there is not the same as losing it at the other end. Need to see more one-two pass movements and if they fail, we try and win the ball back quickly and try again . Simples!

As for the defending , I thought Spammers and Sherrif in the EL in their home leg, showed City how to play us. Pellegrini set his team out defensively and hit us on the counter, they've not played like this against any opponent to date since he's taken over , not even against the European champions.

I'm convinced that you cant play Dawson in a high line defence so when AVB nearly sold him on, I felt it were the obvious thing to do, for the good of the team tactic and for Dawson himself. But this is not a day for laying blame on individuals. Bar two, maybe three players, they were all ****ers.
