OMT - Tottenham vs. West Ham

No I feel the same. He carries the ball but then what? He often checks his run when he is in possession and slows everything down allowing the opposition to get back. I felt the same last season too.

Cannot for the life of me see what AVB sees in him. I thought he was **** in a **** Fulham side.

Been saying this for weeks, 2 steps forward and 3 back. Dembele isnt the only culprit though.

This might actually be ban worthy for Mumorn. I mean a simple avatar change wouldn't be enough.

We'll bounce back. We always do. Just the manner of it was particularly hurtful. We can only learn from failure. It's a pretty spectacular failure to be fair, but **** me we better bounce back. COYS

I don't undersatnd AVBs buying or playing policy really..

We have four players who would prefer #10 Eriksen, Lamela, Siggy and Holtby.
Two Brazilian internationals, who are almost the same player and who AVB doesn't want to play together. Paulinho and Sandro. (and Dembele is pretty similar too)
One expensive in the box striker Soldado, but no real hold up striker.
One left winger who doesn't look comfortable going down the line. Chadli
No left back cover

and no play maker.

And then after spending all that money he does not start Chadli/Lamela/Soldado (or Sandro who is possibly our best player).

Very random, and strange.

and joy of joys after that I now get to watch the cowboys get similarly shown up by Peyton Manning

horrible weekend of sport

I agree that today was absolutely awwwwwwwwwful, but how exactly has Big Sam out thought AVB here? It's hardly stunningly new tactical innovation, to go to a top side when you are a mid table team and park the bus. And if the didn't have a striker in the squad, it's natural to go 4-6-0.

We played the way we would if we would have won the game, in terms of set up. The selection was fine. It was just an awful, awful day. The players weren't at it. I put it down to a terrible day at the office, that can happen.

Doesn't mean all these sweeping statements need to be made. AVB is bad, Soldado is bad, Defoe is bad blah blah blah. Today felt like the Fulham game at home last year, where we just weren't at it. I think the weakness in the squad at full back was exposed today. Walker looked injured and that done us. That uncertainty and lack of being bang at it spread to the rest of the team. I'm sure of that.

With all due respect, 3-0 is hardly the scoreline of a team intent on parking the bus. And them having more shots than us also points to us being f***ing awful.

AVB knew Walker was injured, and that Rose wouldn't make it. He was forced to play Naughton at left-back and Walker at right-back despite his injury. Yet after knowing they wouldn't be effective wing-backs....he still uses a formation that relies heavily on wing-backs to provide width.

The result? A delighted Fat Sam put five players in the penalty box and choked off any play down the middle we could conjure up. He then hit us on the counter, knowing our centre-backs are slow on the turn and not very good at set-pieces, relying on his lads to drive at the heart of our defense and aggressively attack headers in the box. Against all these moves (based on very simple observations, by the way) what did AVB do? Well, the equivalent of twiddling his thumbs, sending Lamela on for Sigurdsson and then watching as West Ham hit us twice on the counter by using the same tactics they'd used all damn game: get it forward quickly, get it down and run at the Spurs back line.

Again, he failed to use Sandro to stem the tide of a game that was rapidly turning against us. And the way our players lost their nerve and became utterly spineless after their first goal went in was horrific to see, and surely something AVB could have prevented.

Overall, he was out-thought today. Big Sam honed his tactics to perfection against us while we flailed hopelessly against his own. And that has to be a black mark against AVB. Sort it out.

For me this is right up there with losing 4-3 to City against 10 men. It feels pretty dam low. Going to take a few days to remind myself that we are actually a decent side nowadays. But that was a massive reality check for all of us.

I think thats the problem. No disrespect to you but we arnt a decent side. We wont be until we have earned it. The players, the media and a lot of fans think we are decent, but based on what? bales 20 odd goals last year?

The most disappointing thing is that we've done so well with a new team. Got the victories. Okay not scored enough, but the team is very new.

In games like this, we should be improving, showing better midfield play, and kicking on. Instead it was a big step back. Now where do we go? Hopefully we'll get back to the tight defence, and start to turn possession into goals more regularly.

The type of game that makes you take a break from anything football related. I don't wanna think about it, see you guys for next weeks match, till then I refuse to think of Tottenham Hotspur.

yea, no way i'm watching MOTD tonight, will take a break for a bit, too depressing to think about it.it always feels like we have these performances / results before an international break so we have to dwell on it for longer! Could really have done with a europa or league cup game this week to get this **** out of our systems.

Yup, the fact that the 2 games we've lost have both been just before international breaks has added to the pain. Especially as they were both in London derbies meaning we have to put up with extra abuse for the fortnight, the last hour has certainly reminded me why I hate Spammers so much :-&
