Gareth Bale

Re: Gareth Bale

not sure how long you've supported spurs, been here since Crooks and Archibald were out main strikers and you can imagine the list of players we've gone through since; Bale is going to be missed, but there will be more like him. this window especially has been the most exciting and holds even more promise then ever before.
1984, and you're right, plenty have gone before and will go after. Bale's departure does not have me in tears like Chris Waddle's did.

Re: Gareth Bale

Thing with Bale is, I actually think he loves the club, giving him the oppertunity etc. I think he has a lot of respect for the club, the fans and especially the manager.

That is why it will be different for me. Sure, Berbatov was a great great talent but world class? I don't think so. Sure, Modric was a damn damn good player but world class? Yet again, I don't really think so, very very good players though. Then we have Bale, who for me IS world class. He's the first world class player we've had in over 20 years, that for me is why I'll be a little sad when it's all confirmed.

I've said many times there was a club before Bale and there will be a club after him, but after all those memories, all those world class goals he scored to win us games last year, it just wasn't enough in the end and I'll never forget him. I never got to saw Hoddle play for Spurs and I was too young to see Gascoigne put on the shirt for this great club but I am very proud and happy to say that I witnessed Gareth Bales day as a Tottenham Hotspur player.

So thank you Gareth Bale.

yeah? mine was hoddle...don't think i'll miss bale as much as I did hoddle. i'm sure you remember how difficult it was to get news about foreign football clubs so unlike now with the interweb youtube and what not.

Berbs and Modric didn't earn their "spurs" here unlike Bale - they were already promising internationals. Bale had a baptism of fire by comparison. In the early days it seemed that we picked the wrong soton star and walcott was steadily making good while bale was setting a new record of another kind ( something like 20 matches without a win?). His bleakest days from "loser status" to triple PFA award winner and Most expensive footballer all at Spurs. He will never forget the experience with the club.

Agreed. I sort of feel we've grown with Bale. I mean he first arrived, he had the promise (much like the club) but something was missing. We started to challenge for that top four place and he emerged. It's like as much as we grew as a football club, Bale did too. It's crazy to think that this scrawny left back we signed from Southampton all those years ago has turned into one of the deadliest attackers in the game today. It's a testament to the man himself wanting to better himself physically and he has done that. He has DESERVED that move to Real Madrid through hard work and dedication and I commend him for it.

I think we will miss Bale badly, regardless of how many players we buy to replace him. We have become so used to him in the first 11 for the last 3 years that it won't be easy to just forget about him. Wish Levy had done more to keep him, even it it means forcing him to stay.

don't think the 7 new players we got will remember him all that much... 7 players, all of which will play a major part in this season. I think we'll be fine.

Played 4 won 4 goals for 10 goals against 0, not sure we'll actually miss him that much. As good as he was last season with the new players I feel we have a more balanced and rounded team where everyone will contribute not just Gareth.

In theory, it should really be Hoddle for me too. Thing is, football being the odd emotive experience it is, I only started going semi-regularly at the same time we brought Waddle in, so I somehow felt that much more attached to him! (Or maybe it was the mullet?...!)

Re: Gareth Bale

The thing to remember about Gareth Bale is that he never claimed to be a boyhood Spurs fan. He never bled lillywhite. He chose to come to Spurs as he saw it as the right club to progress his career. It was a good decision.

He now sees Real Madrid as the right club to progress his career.

Re: Gareth Bale

Are SSN just guessing the move will go through today, or are there any noises coming from the club to confirm this news?

What has bale done to make you think he loves the club? we gave him a chance but we have given lots of players a chance. When bale retires he will probably come back onto the pitch in one of those half time thingys and chat for the crowd, but i think players only do this because they get bored at home with the wife and the kids.

Bale never expressed any great love for the club not like say freund did when he was here.

As for berbatov not being world class, he most certainly was, he was the best sstriker in the league in his last season with us and his second with man u. In one of the hardest leagues in the world, you can not do anymore then that. Personally he has been my favourite spurs player of the last 20 years, his skill and close control was amazing, moody bugger i grant you.

Just guessing. Like they've done since mid-June. Only now the chances of being correct is much bigger.

Re: Gareth Bale

@spurspanyol 2m

Another interesting note from the article, which goes against a lot of that which British journalists have written...

It states Levy & Barnett are, in fact, very close. Levy even suggested that they (JB & Bale) had two days away from the saga.

And that Perez was angry that Bale had flown out to Marbella instead of forcing the move

Finally, it mentions that Levy is giving Bale as much time off as he needs because it's not his problem if Bale doesn't arrive match fit.

It is not just how we perform with or without Bale. I think we will miss the quality and timing of his goals. It is not easy to replace a world class player like him. Already feel upset to think we will miss that.

and we have Eriksen, Chadli, Soldado, Lamela to score the goals that GB did, 19 in the league
