haha quality.

Compare the difference of someone in a private company even if they are a millonaire to a public sector worker. Levy likes to save money and i admire him for that but if he had any sense he would let gomez go on a free rather then hold for a fee for him like he did with bentley, the saving we can make is on the wages.

Sometimes trying to save or make money you do not see the bigger picture.

I fly to Rome on easyjet and it was ok but it took about an hour to get the luggage, very slow in that airport.

Probably why we missed out on Rivaldo, to be honest. Here he was, his head filled with weeks of sleek corporate sales talk about how classy Spurs were, how we were prepared to splash the cash, how our ambitions were so high, how we'd be prepared to do anything to get the right man......and then when he showed up at the airport expecting a chaffeured limosuine and a private jet, all he got was a fifteen minute wait followed by a short balding man in an unwashed Haiwaiian shirt approaching him, opening his bulky cabin suitcase and gesturing to him to get inside, muttering 'Excess baggage fee still cheaper than a whole ticket. Welcome to Spurs'.

Let's hope money-minded Levy will annoy Real Madrid so much that they will give up signing Bale.

nothing wrong with that. that's how we end up with down-to-earth players who understand the clubs philosphy and willing their lives by it.

He only told Mido it was for a better seat, in reality it was part of the medical and to help shift a few lbs before training.

To be fair, Stelios is Levy's mate, and a minor stakeholder of the club, so at least Levy's showing loyalty.

To allow someone to leave on a free you either have to pay them out of their contract, essentially paying their wages anyway or find another club willing to sign them on a free capable of agreeing a contract the player and the agent agrees to.

I'm sure someone on here were saying similar things about Gio "why don't we just ship him out cheaply", Levy found the right deal and we got the sell on fee in the end. You win some and you lose some with every strategy.

PSV want him back but levy is holding out for a fee. Gio was always going to be worth something to spainish teams but levy had his head turned by that big offer from italy and wanted similar for dos santos.

Levy is quite good on the money side but sometimes he holds out for to bigger a fee for players and it works against him, but the are some fan boys on here who think he is some sort of GHod who never makes a mistake and that is not true.

How do you know what their offer is? Perhaps they're trying to do to us what we did to City when we signed Ade and have us continue paying a portion of the wages for the remainder of his contract?

I have no problems seeing that Levy has made mistakes, with hindsight.

Like I said, you win some and you lose some with every strategy.

Gotta love football fans.
I. Players are out of touch with really, don't know what its like to be normal
II. Why can't levy stop being tight and pay big wages and transfer fees
III. Flying easyjet rather than chartering flights acting like Bono

Which of the above is the odd one out?!

There have been reports for a few years with quotes from their chairman that they would like gomes back but not for the fees levy wants, easier to let him go for free.

Easier, probably. The better financial decision, not necessarily.

Or are you saying that Levy is incapable of calculating the cost of keeping a player compared to letting him go on a free and compare that to the probability of selling him for whatever fee we're asking for (or the average of what we're likely to get for the player)?

That's not exactly quantum physics and something I would imagine even rather inept chairmen should be capable of calculating.

No im sure he is capable of doing the maths, but he has made a few mistakes then in that regard, with gomes who could have gone last year to psv and also to bentley and dos santos.
