The first British winner of the men's singles title for 77 years, Murray was at Downing Street the day after his historic straight sets win over top seed Novak Djokovic.

The 26-year-old was given a round of applause from the assembled staff and waiting guests - which included Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, Labour's Ed Miliband and members of the SNP - as he entered the building.

It is a bit. It's not our fault that in some sports we seem to be 'Britain' and others we seem to be 'England', I am starting to lose track of which ones are which.


I have always assumed Tennis to be 'Britain', just because in the Davis Cup we are 'Britain'.
 
Plus the fact that half the ENGLISH cricket team are made up of foreigners, Trott, Morgan, Pieterson, Kieswetter, Prior, Dernbach. 5 South Africans and an Irishman ffs.

People with dual nationalities go with the team they think will give them the best option shocker.


The same thing happens in football.
 
Morgan - Fully Irish
Kieswetter - South African/Scottish
Trott - Fully South African
Dernbach - South African/Italian

And that isnt all of them. Its crazy!

Trott has a british passport, english grandparents.
Dernbach, lived in England since he was 14.
Kieswetter is probably the strange one out of the three. As he played for the SA youth teams.



Morgan, completely different story, the Irish didn't play test matches, of course he's going to go and play for a different country given the option.



You don't have to be born in England to be English.

well considering 3 of those you mention are not in the current test side it makes your post look stupid
 
I was merely highlighting a few of the recent foreign players for England, I didn't say "current test side", at least 5 of them have played in the same side against Pakistan this year ffs. Why so defensive anyway, are you a secret springbok?
