What was our worst ever signing?

Well the worst ever signing was Marco Boogers (is that right) from West Ham. He didnt cost much but he played 2 or 3 games or so and left so doesnt have to be how much. I see it as what they did for the club. Saib did fcuk all, even though he looked very gifted and scored a goal in one of our games, think it was Wimbledon. Why did he leave though?

That said, players like Tramezanni would go ahead of him as being the worst player if im going by that philosophy.

Rebrov

Just never worked out for him in England

If we had have bought Shevchenko too we would have had the ISS (pro evo) 2000 top striking team and would have won the premiership!

Anyway, he did also score some zim zimmers who got the key to my bimmer against Saudi Sportswashing Machine (outside of the boot) and a diving header against the goons and also that strike against Wet Spam in the FA Cup. So I dont think he was that bad. Glenn Hoddle ruined him thats all.

Compared to the financial and opportunity cost associated with players like Rebrov, Bentley and the return of Keane players like Raziak, Saib and Khumalo barely made a blip on the "well, that was unfortunate" radar.
Agree, although Raziak cost £3m apparently.

Rebrov I think was a little unlucky, he wasn't terrible and might've come good in his 2nd season, but Hoddle didn't seem to fancy him right from the off.

Bentley's huge fee must win him the prize, even with that goal.

Old Grzegorz (had to look that up) reportedly recouped us £2m of that though, his wages were probably modest, the total financial loss was thus almost completely insignificant compared to the expensive players mentioned.

I think Rebrov was a bit unlucky too, but that's not really the question.

My vote goes to Raziak or Rebrov.. I don't think Raziak even scored one goal did he? If only that one against Liverpool stood.. it could all be different ;)

Gilberto, cost £1.9m from Herta Berlin and played 10 games over an 18 month period before having his contract terminated.

Rasiak, deadline day £3m panic buy who miserably failed to fill Kanoute' boots and was sold 6 months (8 games, 0 goals) later for £2m.

Has to be either Bentley or Rebrov given the fees involved. We've signed plenty of inferior players however the failure of these two is exacerbated by their transfer fees

That one actually makes me quite sad as I always thought that he could have turned out be a very canny signing. There was one 1 game of his (I think it was a 4-0 win against West Ham) where he looked great. Lovely quick feet, comfortable and technically accomplished on the ball, nice crossing and he scored a goal as well with a well taken finish. Basically everything you could want in an attacking full back.

Sadly, he just seemed to suffer a complete lack of confidence in all the other games that he played but there was definitely a good standard of ability hiding in there somewhere.

Maybe not a signing that cost us much but it is impossible to understand the logic behind the signing of the 23-year old non-league striker Dave McEwen. How on earth did that happen?

Andy Booth - we needed a striker and then he turned up, old and his best days behind him, heads were left sore and raw with the psoriasis caused by continuous scratching.

i totally forgot about rebrov.
taking into account that wondergoal that bentley gave us against arsenal, it lifts him out of last place.
rebrov, no memorable contribution, our worst signing (perhaps also management fault, but that's another discussion)

Yeah for the fee obviously Rebrov didn't work out as we had hoped but he wasn't that bad.

Rasiak on other hand didn't cost us alot of money but he was fudging awful. I have never seen a worse player ever put on a Spurs shirt. He had the touch of a rapist.

Kazayuki Toda. I think he made his debut v ManUre, pretty sure i could have done a better job in centre mid, and i am terrible. Probably earnt the club money through shirt sales and exposure in Japan, but in footballing terms, i don't remember too many worse players

On the subject of South African misfits, that Mabizela chap was bit of head scratcher, though I've no idea how much he cost. Hardly played. Looked miserable when he did. Scored a screamer. Buggered off.

He could'nt even cut it in the norwegian premiership. That says a lot

Dear me, some classic names in here!

I guess you would need to take into account the total cost (net fee and wages) to truly see who was worst, but I would vote for Bentley

Or Gilberto because he single handedly knocked us out of the UEFA Cup within seconds, IIRC. The taco.
