Chairman's message

I know he was pretty crap, but it's a bit harsh that we packed Jenas off to the army.

Yeah suppose it would have been 'on the cheap' cos that's all Levy does when it comes to bringing a forward in.

As far as has been reported in the financial reports that have been released from the club Levy has more or less consistently allowed the managers to spend whatever money was available to spend. Not sure what more you can ask?

If you're asking Levy or Lewis to do what Abramovich is doing then that's a fair enough opinion I suppose, although I disagree that it's a fair demand to put on our chairman and our owner.

Levy allowed Redknapp to sign 3 £10m+ strikers in Defoe, Keane and Crouch as well as an £7m (ish?) attacking midfielder/forward in VdV.

No I have a problem with Levy not giving his managers the proper tools to meet his expectations. I've got no problem with him demanding champions league football but at least back your manager properly. Going into a season with two forwards is just micky mouse.

He's not demanding champion's league football. Nor is he gonna gamble on it by spending money we dont have on achieving it.

So we'll not move forwards then? I'm not asking for Chelsea type investment in slightest but we had a net spend of -15mill last season like it or not but progression costs money and if we continue to do that we'll go backwards.

Progression doesn't cost money.

Progression requires wise decisions.

Money can force progression, but it's not the only way to achieve it.

Like going into a season with two forwards? That was a hugely wise decision by levy. No point arguing this I'm just asking questions of theon you're just backing him to the hill regardless.

are you sure about that?

his very first words of the statement were... "We should all have wanted to start today with our fate in our own hands regarding Champions League qualification"

i think the man most definitely demanded CL football

Aw at last someone on this site who doesn't think levy is best thing ever and is willing to ask questions of him!

The whole 'you got levyed' bolloks doing the rounds on here last summer and in jan about sums up how he can do no wrong. Only one 'getting levyed' are season ticket holders who's prices go up every year without fail while 'Daniel' penny pinchs and balls up
Our season for
Second year in a row.

Would you have been happy if say, we got all our deals done earlier by spending an extra million on them, which meant we couldn't afford lloris on the final day of the transfer window?

I see what your saying, we probably couldve got Lloris cheaper if we hadnt have tried to penny pinch by leaving it till the last hour to see if Lyon would sell him for £3.50 instead of £10m +

Didn't we go back with a LOWER BID once they'd already accepted an offer from us? Goes without saying were not Man United, but some fans talk like were some small club like Portsmouth or something and leaving deals late is the only way we can work.

Nothing would surprise me..

Im not a Levy hater far from it, I think the guy is a fantastic chairman, but if he isnt sitting there today thinking brick I really havent helped with us getting CL football the last 2 years I actually want him to leave

Look if the fans can see what is required for us to make champs league why do they think Levy can't? difference is surely Levy knows how much money we have and has to use it carefully to get the best deal for the club can't see a problem. After all we aren't chelsea.

Levy is probably thinking "weve got the 3rd best player in the world, how did AVb fcuk this up"

this is why Levy and Redknapp made such a good team......the Teflon Twins
