Harrys Trial

Jose Dominguez
When the hell is it? I thought it was Jan 15th.

What the f#ck is going on....does anyone know?

are people genuinely concerned about this?

Its going to turn out to be a real nothing event, the figures involved are chickenfeed to HR, and even if he gets fined, it won't break his heart.

Any notion of a custodial sentence is ridiculous, and nothing more than desperation on behalf of the anti HR phalanx (both of the Spurs and non spurs variety)

I agree, I think the idea of Harry going to jail seems extremely unlikely.

The ex-Darlington owner George Reynolds got 3 years for tax evasion but that was for ?ú650,000 and he was systematically cheating HMRC in a variety of ways over the course of many years. They're only after ?ú40K from Harry and that's on a single one off payment that wasn't declared (allegedly) not years of constant deception.

I'd be shocked if he went to prison, and that's if he's found guilty, which doesn't seem a certainty.

My hopes for the trial is a slap on the wrist the size that he doesn't get into serious trouble, but enough trouble for the FA to stay away from him after the Euros

How would people's perceptions change if he's indeed found guily? The amount is irrelevant - laws are laws

Couldn't care less. HMRC are a bunch of clams.

If he gets us top 4 again, he can steal the shirt off my back and I wouldn't give a brick.

The worry is how much work will he able to do with Spurs if he has to attend a trial for 2 weeks?
Even if he loses there will be an appeal which will be ages down the road.

Probably the best thing for the club is Harry losing and getting a fine. Hopefully then he'd be out of the running for the England job whilst he appeals the fine.

you don't imagine that he's going to attend, for every hour that there is any evidence or deliberation do you?

He will show up at the start, to give evidence (if he is required to do so) and for the decision, the rest of the time it will be lawyers arguing the toss

He should use Joe to defend him, HMRC will end up paying him and sending a grovelling apology.

Tax = Theft. Wouldn't concern me one bit.

In answer to the OP, the trial was delayed as there was no board to discuss it. Now we're back up and running they can go ahead.

Non event for me, the way I see it

- Harry and the club would have had the best lawyers money can buy (ususually far better than those that represent state), who must have looked over the case in great detail and determined there was no real risk of a successful prosecution.
- If there was even a remote chance of risk, the club and/or Harry would have paid it off.

Either this is an overeager asshole at HMRC, or they feel they can get Pompey's ex owner (however you spell his name) and they just saw Harry as tag along charge (and not really important if they won or not.

Apart from for poor 'Arry, who doesn't get to manage England

We'd get to save him from the utter brickstorm that is managing 23 egos who are capable of being 10th best in the world but are expected to be 1st.

fraud is bloody serious. If he nicked a block of cheese from tescos hed be in serious trouble. I expect a brickstorm if hes found guilty. My personal view is, it seems odd that Vodaphone can fudge off ?ú6 billion while Redknapp gets HMRC all over him for a trifle amount in comparison - this looks like they picked on an easy target. That said, it dosnt make it right, you cant steal from HMRC and if I did it id expect to get screwed too. I just feel that there could be more serious things to worry about at the Tax office.

When we hear the details of what hes done, we can say wether he deserves to get fired. not before!

Actually I don't think peoples opinion of Harry would be altered one way or another. Strangely he is often perceived as some sort of cheeky roosterney chappie who is a bit naughty on occasion, but overall he is a lovable rouge. One of Tehtrunks early spurs vids had him chacterised as a Dell boy type. "Wanna buy a rolex darling?" <twitch> <twitch>

Complete tosh, but the perception is still out there. If he is found guilty people will say "I told you he was bent!!!" or if acquitted people will say "I think he's bent anyway".

who cares? if he did it, hes guilty. If he didnt do anything, hes not. just because someone likes or dosnt like the outcome dosnt mean anything.
