The Match of the Day Thread

Shame, Dixon was the best regular pundit that they had. They really need to shake that programme up, they are too scared of upsetting the Premier League, clubs and players to offer any really insight or analysis. Like Sky it is just a shop window to promote "the greatest league in the world" TM

Harry will be good. Not so sure about McCarthy.

Dixon wasn't a particularly good pundit but he was a LOT better than Shearer who is about as good a pundit as Gary Doherty was a centre forward.

That's me never watching MOTD again. He's found his level. His shocking lack of tactical knowledge will be exposed once and for all

I like Harrys public persona, he'll be fin. Hate McCarthy though comes across as arrogant which would be fine if he was any good. But he's not.

'Arry is a good choice. He can provide some comedy, something missing since Ian Wright decided people didn't take him seriously, and can also provide better insight that Shearer or McCarthy. MOTD is light entertainment so 'Arry has the right balance of light-heartedness and genuine knowledge.

Dixon is a loss, though. He was the best of the pundits apart from Hansen on a good day. The latter unfortunately is gradually becoming a parody of himself, which is a shame.

I've been recording MOD over recent years to avoid the dire analysis that these so called pundits give out. It's TV set for the lowest common denominator.

As Milo already mentioned it needs a major shakeup, but it won't happen.

McCarthy is a bellend.
Me and a load of mates were coming back from a wedding in Ireland - easyjet; and we were all (like everyone about to board the plane) queing patiently, when that old scrote pushed past everyone to get to the front of the queue - and cherry on the cake left his wife at the top of the stairs on her own.
We did pump a few Roy Keane chants his way after that - True Story

i rode a plane with him to barbados and he seemed like an easygoing and nice enough guy. they lost his luggage (and my wife's) at the barbados airport and he was pretty laid back about it.
