Richarlison

Sounds like this will be done in the next 48 hours. Was a bit miffed when the link first came out, but I think he'll suit us. I fudging hated watching him roll around and try to get players sent off, but another dark arts specialist will be a good addition to our team of nice guys.

Who knows indeed.
But what would be a club record signing by some distance, picking up scraps. ;)

I know, I know...around 60 games next season, 5 subs and all that....and I like the idea of him...but £60m for a non-first XI player?

Let’s see how the deal actually structures. I think we will find it is closer to 40 when all the permutations/add-ons, etc are factored in (I include whatever is owed for Dele plus Winks move if it happens - I believe it will but not as a direct part of this deal). Regardless, I think he is an excellent signing for us, full-Conte, and way better suited to what we need right now than Raphina. If we were to also sign Bremer before the plane leaves I’d be very happy, but you do feel another RWB is coming (Spence seems most likely)…but again, I think Richarlison is a top drawer signing for us.

Dunno about scraps. He's a good player that conte wants. It wasn't long ago everton turned down a €100m bid from barca for him.

Yeah, alright...it wasn't long ago that Dele was supposedly worth 100m.

Not a good comparrison. Richarlison was arguably evertons best player last season. Dele couldn't get a start. Even so, if dele gets the games we get £40m for him.

£60m though?

I think people will need to let go of the fee on this one. At some point we need to stick or twist. Liverpool didn’t blink twice to bring in Diaz and put him in the front 3. Same with Jota.

Realistically which Prem ready player could we have picked up that could slot into one of the front 3 roles for less?

I think the difference between Richarlison and Bergwijn/Moura is that if we had a big game Conte would have no hesitation using Richarlison where as the other 2 were trusted only as a last resort.

Regarding the fee. It’s highly unlikely that it’s going to be 60m up top. Probably more likely 45/50 + add ons based on success. Let’s assume he flops completely and we sell in 2 years for 25m. It’s then a 20/25m loss.

We’ve also picked up Peresic, Bassouma and Forster for £25m so it’s a bit swings and roundabouts.

Imagine at start of the window if I said from the outfield players you could switch out Winks and Bergwijn for Perisic, Bissouma and Richarlison for net £25m + success dependant add ons? I’d hope you would gobble my arm off.

You brought up the £100m figure.
We're going round in circles. I think my view has been made clear, whether you agree with it or not...I believe Richarlison, as a non-first team player, is expensive at £60m.

How much is kane or son worth? Cause if you want a player to be first choice in those positions you'll have to pay more.

He’s likely to be a first 11 player for a minimum of 25/30 games I’d say. And possibly influential as a sub in many others. Kulu will likely have form/energy dips in a 55 game season and Kane and Son will likely come back from the WC knackered. Rich then goes straight in.

We can probably also have a go at the domestic cups properly - something I’m defo in favour of.

It IS a lot of money - but it’s explainable imo.

We also know what we are getting. We know he can play well in the league.

That makes no sense.
Why are you suggesting we need to replace Kane and Son?
We were talking about back up/cover for up front, and how much we should be paying for that.
I'm saying a fee of £60m for Richarlison to do that is too much...I really can't find another way of saying that to you.

You are talking backup and cover. The rest of us are talking rotation. Someone who can play without too much a drop in quality. For that you have to pay.

Ok lets talk price. Just going on reports.

Jesus £45m. On a 5 year contract of £280k a week. Works out as £117,800,000.

Richarlison £60m. 5 year contract of say £150k a week. £99m.

Or we can talk attitude. This is a good player that has been playing for a team fighting relegation. He didn't throw his toys out of the pram, or ask for a move. He worked hard and helped save them. He came over at 20 and joined watford, but fought his way into the brazil national team and stayed there.

The Jesus deal is a poor one imo. They are being absolutely shafted on the fee for a player surplus to requirements with one year left on his contract. He’s worth £45m under a lengthy contract. Look what we got Bissouma for when he had a year left.

And the wages? Oh my how this guy can get £280k a week is absolutely staggering imo. £140k a week tops. All in all an awful bit of business.
