Antonio Conte - officially NOT the coach of THFC

Well we all know that anything can happen in football but i would really be surprised if he decides to leave us. He has a chance here to win us trophys ( and we all know that is not a regular thing here) and by doing so will improve his standing in the world of football management.

If he managed to win the league with us that would make him a legend, not just to spurs fans. After all the sexy nonsense it would probably be seen as a bigger achievement than leicesters.

Indeed, that is my point. We see ourselves as a big club but lets be honest we have failed at the last hurdle on a few occasions over the last decade or so. Its about time to change that and if Conte manages to do it just think what that will do for his reputation as well.

You can’t change a club that’s owned by a country
Too many things in play and it’s a kids toy don’t forget

Yet city approach it differently. Saudi Sportswashing Machine seem to be doing so too. PSG is becoming a bit of a joke. Doubt the qataris like that.

City have built an empire by acquiring other clubs
City have also tried to make it bigger for the club. They have grown under the Arab owners
Quatar haven’t made PSG bigger. They are still the biggest club in France so no actual progress there. Only difference now is they win the league 9/10 seasons and that’s made them more dominant

Marseille
Lyon
Nice
Bordeuax
St Etienne

All bigger and many others probably

Psg were a nothing middling club founded in the 70s with no real history when taken over - they essentially just won the postcode lottery

Sorry I was editing my post and I’ve deleted it
I agree but when they were brought the teams you mentioned were all waning

Teams being on the wane doesn't change whether the clubs are big or not. See United & Liverpool as examples.

PSG were nowhere near the biggest club in France when they were bought, like i said they were a middling club and that's just a fact. However being based in Paris with no competition/rival club gave them unrivalled potential to become the biggest in the country

They were still one of the most known clubs. If you had asked football fans at that time to name 2 French league teams i think 8/10 people would mention PSG.

I doubt that very much - but maybe, purely by virtue of being named Paris, which is one of the most widely known cities on the planet.

Marseille Monaco Lyon & St Etienne would have all been known to anyone with a passing interest in football for footballing reasons.

Yeah that is what I was just checking
They were quickly established at the elite club in France after the merger of the two previous clubs
Can argue their history is brief of course
But they were established and known to a level arguably above any other side in France. Hence the classique derby
Lyon have had spells and there are teams that were great over the years but psg since they have been formed have been up there
Canal+ owned psg for a period too

There have been some really good signings … and swiftly too with no mention of add ons or broken fax machines. The ITKs don’t know squat and are sweating … but are we still missing a few players in a LCB and a RWB for conte to cream his pants?

not being a downer but we are still a few vital players short of making it count. Conte didn’t come here to finish in the top 4. He came here for the title … does he still currently have a right to gripe? The RWB and LWB positions are vital for his system to work.

or are we done and see what happens?

whatever the answer is, it’s nice to see Levi finally bend over and do something different and back the manager to the hilt. I could get used to levy MK2, fair play.

Still think it’s a decent window but have glaring deficiencies that need addressing. I’m playing devils advocate here before you shoot me. But conte system only works fully with great wing backs and the requirement of a solid ball playing LCB that needs addressing.

the current signings make our squad soo much better but what signings really stakes a claim to be an automatic starter? I know it’s a squad game and with 5 subs it plays into our favour for next year.

Lenglet and spence should hopefully be done by monday.

Lenglet just don’t seem to do it for me at moment. Seems like we were after alternative targets and he was available so we will make do. I don’t know anything about the player if I’m honest but the reading on the forum seems like he will do well to push Ben Davies.

seems a little left field when compared to other players signed in the window.

I dunno. He's in the mould that conte seems to want, was once thought of highly enough barca spent fairly big money on him. Davies and dier weren't exactly thought of as great a year ago.

Not saying he'll be first choice, but i'll wait and see on him.
