Emerson Royal

If he’s happy to stick around then it would be great to keep him for those games like Pool or City away when we’re expecting to have to defend more.

I’m not one of those people who wants to change players positions all the time but I really do think he could be great cover for Romero as RCB, he seems to have all the attributes for that roll. If he can cover 2 positions in the team then I think he is a very useful squad player.
I've had the the same thoughts re him covering for Romero. He's seems quite suited to the role of RCB. Good depth if that is a path we want to follow.

Think he got better as the season progressed and not nearly as bad as some said. Would have liked to have seen him continue next season, but unfortunately his attacking lacks which is required for the current set up.

The lad is much better than some of the brick that's been posted on social media by some of our fans. But he's not a wing back and I think it'd take a lot to make him one. He's dreadful in wide positions when we're attacking.

Good defender, good player who I'd love for it to work out for here but I can't see it if we want to take it up a level. Good luck to him if he goes. Could see him being excellent under Simeone.

I do hope he stays here, he is a much better player then what some have said about him. He seem willing to work hard at changing his game to suit our style and i am sure if he stays he will get plenty of games.

The problem is when he gets into the box he doesn't seem to know what to do. Like reguillon i think a better player would have scored more from the positions they got themselves in. Perisic got 8 goals and 7 assists in the league last season compared to reguillons 2 and 3. Thats worth how many points in a season? I'd like to see the same done for the right.

I get the point i do but imo he was improving that part of his game as the season progressed, as i said he seems willing to work on that part of his game, it can be done with the right attitude and a manager who is willing to help him do so. We shall see.

At the end of the day it will be up to conte. If he decides he wants to keep him, i'm not going to argue.

Reggie could have had atleast 10 goals last season with the opportunities he has had.

Every player is going to miss some chances, but it is an area we can improve next season and get more points from. As are other areas. Including rwb. Not every signing will be amazing. But if we are serious about closing the gap we need to try and improve as many areas as possible. Doesn't mean the players being replaced are bad players, just that we want to improve.

Some of that will be improving our players. Some adding depth. Or options in how we play.

I dont understand why people keep suggesting we sell him, he looks to me a better player than Tantanga, hes the same age and has more experience and confidence. Apart from being home grown Tantanga looks a long way from being part of our squad, injuries have held him back but he didnt look comfortable playing in any position, which is a shame as I had high hopes for him.

If we sign another RWB like Spence it will depend on if Conte wants two or three players for that role. I don't think Tanganga is seen as much more than an emergency option at RWB.

With Perisic we have a player that I think can also play RWB. Doherty can play LWB, but better on the right. Emerson could turn out to be a useful option as a RCB, but that's still speculative IMO. Some flexibility there with three right wing backs, but not a ton.

I think we may struggle to keep players happy if we go into the season with three right wing backs + Perisic as an option. Also a question of player development and the need for game time if we sign Spence and for Emerson.

One option could be five wing backs in total. For me Perisic is the obvious "can pay both sides" wing back, makes sense to have him, two other LWB and two other RWB players.

Short term at least, if it's a decision to keep one of Doherty and Emerson I think Doherty should stay. We'd probably get more money for Emerson too.

Not against keeping him as such, but we need another option at RWB imo. And I think a new RWB and keeping both of Emerson and Doherty may be a bit too much.

Because we are over the non hg limit. We don't need 3 rwbs and the money can be used elsewhere. Think tanganga needs a loan aswell.
