Jordon Peterson

That's certainly the case in Scotland with the gender recognition act, a lot of women feel their rights and protections are being eroded.
From the he little I've seen of peterson he strikes me as a dangerous person.
The type that stirs up trouble and walks away leaving others to clean up his mess.

out of the loop on that one, did the act rollback anyones rights and protections?

agree with your take on Peterson

Not totally sure of the ins and outs, but the argument is that anyone can claim to be any sex/gender they want and use any toilet, changing room, safe space etc, putting women at risk. Even seen claims of prison, but not sure if that is just hyperbole.
I don't pay much attention to it, but it is a bit of a hot potato up here, Joanna cherry snp ex minister and top legal brief has all but been excluded from the party for not supporting it.

I’ve seen that argument before, I don’t think the reality/practicality tracks. Getting through a toilet door isn’t much of a barrier to someone commited to assault.

I think it’s a lazy anti trans scare story.

The argument is more along the lines that the law would be to loose, allowing "dodgy" non trans a loop hole to exploit.
I don't pay much attention to it because tbh it usually ends up in a each side throwing insults at each.
Sums up politics quite nicely for me.

dodgy non trans are going to do that anyway, whatever the law says

Tbf i think the issue was that women being in refuges that had been sexually assulted were having to share with trans (not sure if thats offensive or not, others are using it so will assume ok). They felt obviously uncomfortable. There was also the issue of the trans that was put in a womens prison after sexually assaulting a woman. They then sexually assaulted a number of women prisoners.

What does that even mean? I think most of us believe in a market based economy. That we can own our own home or businesses.

Speak for yourself mate. Who said that it had anything to do with owning a home or business? How strange. What an assumption. Clearly you have been listening to this clown shoe and like minded neo liberals too much. Here's the news, it is possible to be on the economic left and not want public ownership of your house.

That is my point. You just said he is an economic right winger, how far right? You seem to be more central than left. Then you have authoritarian and liberal. Unless you want to pick out specific policies he advocates that you disagree with, then it's pretty meaningless.

WTF? I just have. He is a neo liberal.

did that actually happen though, it’s a little bit brasseye, the peadophile that disguised themselves as a school

He is an economic right winger...enough said.

I consider myself a liberal, but honestly does it really matter if an intellectual like Peterson or anyone else is conservative? Most of the entertainment industry, academia, authors and scientists are left leaning, not sure it matters if the odd one is conservative. I’m interested in anyone who speaks common sense, no matter what their political views are.

He has voiced an opposition to democratic socialism. That makes him a twerp in my book.

Democratic socialism is defined as having a socialist economy in which the means of production are socially and collectively owned or controlled, alongside a liberal democratic political system of government. Democratic socialists reject most self-described socialist states and Marxism–Leninism.

If he'd voiced opposition to social democracy i'd agree. But i am not a fan of social democracy. Imagine your local pub owned by the government.

That definition oF democratic socialism is pretty crap by the way. You can be a democratic socialist and still support having a private sector as well. It's not a one or the other choice. Why would any government want to nationalize the pub? Even a government composed of Trots? Methinks you possess a very limited understanding of political ideology. OMFG?

You sure you are not thinking of social democracy? Which does believe in a market based economy. Aka the nordic model.

Socialism: You have two cows. You give one to your neighbor.
Communism: You have two cows. You give them to the government, and the government then gives you some milk.
Fascism: You have two cows. You keep the cows and give the milk to the government. The government then sells you milk.
Capitalism: You have two cows. You sell one, get a loan, and finance a bull. You will eventually go bankrupt.
Nazism: You have two cows. The government takes both and shoots you.
