Yves Bissouma

Should add that the brighton player that the were always unpleasant rumours about were Dale Stevens and a few about Duffy as well. I shall not repeat those here though.

There was a fairly big issue a few years ago that went to court I believe and some players left the club.

Think most people in the area are on the same mindset as you, Brighton would have dropped him if there was more proof/likely to be true.

He was on bail till june 6th. Nothing has been said since.

The club isn't responsible for the judicial system. We can't assume he is guilty either.

I am not assuming that he is guilty. I would just like the situation resolved before we consider moving for him.

That's fair enough. Think most of us would agree. I'm guessing the club knows more about the situation than we do. At least i hope so. I'm not even sure what the allegations are. Did he put his hand up a womans skirt, was it his mate? Was it more than that?

What would be the punishment? Prison?

It that is the case then its unseemly and wrong but certainly isn’t a serious sexual assault as the twitter feed above says.

Furthermore it is only an allegation at this stage, there have been enough low and high profile cases in recent times of people being wrongly accused of far graver and actual serious sexual assaults.

All cases have to be thoroughly investigated and if a charge is brought the evidence gets assessed in court.

By all accounts his bail ended about ten days ago so presumably that is the end of the matter.

He'd be a very good signing if he is innocent but I would rather that was resolved before we considered moving for him.

Difficult with the transfer window being what it is, the wish for players in by the start of preseason and slow, sometimes unpredictable, churn of the legal system.

May be that the club is accepting some risk of this going sideways, for the upside of what looks a great deal from a purely footballing perspective. Cynical risk benefit approach, ignoring the wider consequences. I hope not, I think not, but been disappointed in the past, difficult to know for sure.

No idea who this is but thought I'd share anyway lol...

Chunky on COYS re Bissouma:

told it's all done

and won't be charged (pretty key obviously)

Yes definitely likewise.

maybe we’ve got some guarantees from his legal team or “get out” clauses lined up in case he’s found guilty? Seems a very high risk move if there is a likelihood of him being found guilty of it and with Brighton playing him all last season as well?

The rumour is that one of his entourage (uncle) is alleged to have committed an offence. This happened in October 2021 and there is not a chance he would have been allowed to leave the country for AFCON in January 2022 if he was a prime suspect in the incident. Problem is the media blew the story up and added 2+2 and made 5.

Tbf both were arrested.

No way, the Club will know its at an end and would have studied the case and been satisfied that the claim was either false or they deemed to be a relatively low misdemeanour even if it was potentially true and was just getting away with it due to a lack of evidence.

Of course there is this other claim that it wasn’t even him that did it. All a bit of a mess really.

Untill i see a "here we go" I'll hold my breath.

Ethics aside, great player and exactly what we need to move forwards on the pitch - can only hope he is completely innocent and charges are dropped
I wouldnt envisage Levy parting company with £500k for a player potentially going to jail, so if we are splashing out £25m on him levy and co clearly know things we dont and that he is not going to be sent down.....
