Just watched Top Gun Maverick and pleasantly surprised they did everything better than the original. Casting was superb and the look and feel of the 80s modernized so it was nt at all looking dated, but kept a strong link to the art direction of the original.

Proper movie with proper relationships between people. It's an action flick of course and some credibility is lost due to the fictitious enemy and US style machismo and a very strong that console gaming vibe in the delivery of the mission details.

Getting up close with the f14s and f18s and head shots of pilots getting pummelled by g forces makes it a worthwhile watch on the big screen.

Jennifer Connolly finally gets the role that she deserves imo as a natural beauty (since Rocketeer), Val Kilmer integrated into the movie really well linking form the past as well as his real life condition, and Tom Cruise well, still is Tom Cruise.

Highly recommended to watch in the big screen, even for the family, as a good old action flick.

Saw it last night and really enjoyed it. Definitely one for IMAX.

Yup, I watched Maverick in ScreenX on opening night which was good fun but the encore in IMAX was well worth the extra £2 uplift imho.

Very impressive the lengths that Cruise et al went to in order to ensure these dogfights looked much more realistic than those in the original Top Gun movie.

Watched a number of films on flights and Netflix recently.

Black Klansman - top film, glad Spike Lee still has it as a veteran.
I'm Thinking of Ending Things - enjoyed reading theories online more than the actual movie which was kind of a tough watch.
The Corpse Bride - missed it the first time round. Enjoyed a lot.
The Duke, Parallel Mothers, After Love all pretty good.
Jack Ass 4.5 - good laugh.

Jurassic World: Dominion is getting a pasting from the critics. I’ll still go and watch it but it’s lowered my expectations a little.

Generally means it will be a decent remove brain and munch away on popcorn movie then :)
(I recall some disliked Lord of the Rings too, no helping some folk I guess)
