** The Tottenham vs Arsenal NLD Official Match Thread **

Yes, now that you say it, yes it should be that way round.
For some reason totally disproportionate to the grand scheme of things, that is now really bugging me and I have been counting out the letters to decide whether it is that way round not because it hasn't been thought through properly but rather due to the aesthetics and I think maybe it wouldn't quite line up with the golden badger above if it was in the logical order but that might just be the angle of my photo or might equally be because I am sitting at home having another beer because I am too hyped up to go to sleep.

it really bugged me too.

Both Arteta and Ødegaard alluding to being hard done by the ref after the game. Deluded idiots. Holding should've been sent off even earlier (in one of the first incidents he clearly kicks Son in the back while he's on the floor), and that elbow is just pure stupidity. Also, if you push someone jumping to connect with the ball inside the box, clearly disrupting their chance by illegal means - how is it not a pen?! Do they think Son was faking it or what? In what world is that not a pen? I suppose they need to say their piece to save face for the fans, but none of those calls were even remotely controversial.

The red card is only in doubt if the ref takes a very lenient, one last chance even though that was definitely a second yellow approach. As refs sometimes do.

The penalty is fine. They don't always get given, I'm not sure VAR overturns that or tells the ref to watch it again if he doesn't give it the first time. It was on the blatant side of those kinds of situations though. As long as the ref sees it clearly I think it's given most of the time.

They were poor, looking for excuses. We were good and need none.

Just to add, both on how Arteta and their players have reacted post game, I think they're definitely feeling the pressure.

They had the chance to wrap up fourth, they didn't. They know they could/should win their last two, but now they might have to actually do that. Difficult situation to be in for a fairly young and inexperienced squad and manager.

Somewhat reminiscent of our Leicester season under Poch. It came just too early for us. Let's hope they implode too.

Saka is probably their best fit player and we've all seen what happens to him under pressure.

In the goons match thread on arsemania they were all praising Holding for his fudgery on Son early on, it soon turned sour though :D

On a side note, asking Rob Holding to mark Heung Min Son should be a sackable offence in itself. The fella is barely League One standard. I was worried about having to turn to Sanchez when Romero was ruled out...Id have Sanchez all day long over Holding.

Doubt he was asked to mark Son, but clearly a desire for him to be very aggressive against Son with his back to goal.

That's usually a good approach, Son just totally got the better of him again and again and he just kept doing the same thing. Strange one.

I think Arsenals great run has to a large extent relied on luck - meeting Chelsea and United when they were in decline and Spammers who had a semi final in midweek. Add to that red cards and soft goals . While we have largely been unlucky - especially that cruel deflection at Anfield and Brightons late late goal. Plus of course that ridiculous postonement earlier in the season when they had a hugely depleted team and used Covid to cry off.

By all that is fair and right in the world, we should win this one.

We do however need to turn up.

Think I called it correctly earlier in this thread. While I am no way suggesting we were lucky to win ( we thoroughly deserved it as we did indeed turn up) Arsenal's unbelievable run of good fortune finally ran out.

Anyone see the two Woolwich fans getting fudged out? Thoroughly enjoyed that. At least they had a reason for not being there for the last 20 mins. 90% of their support were conspicuous by their absence for the rest of the game. Lacazette came over to applaud empty seats at the end.

I have never liked him, dirty as a player, petulant as a manager and watching him do a Keegan is an extra point for me.

He was never dirty in Scotland, in fact he kept well out of it. Up here he came across as a quiet studious lad who wanted to play good football, he never got involved in any of the stupidity that goes with old firm.
I don't watch arsenal so can't comment on what they turned him into.

I saw a bit of steward activity at one point, looked like something was going on but couldn't work out what.
But it has to be said, their support was terrible. I'm in 112, so not quite next to the away section but fairly close and there was none of the 'edge' you normally get. An NLD, and they were as toothless off the pitch as they were on it.

Two lads obviously causing a bit of bother and were unceremoniously fudged out. Hilarious watching them struggle with 3-4 big stewards as if they had any chance. I'm in the East Upper and the fans there were giving it loads as they were getting fudged out.

You're right though, their support was abysmal. Been at a few games where the away support has been probably better than our support this season but last night it seemed everyone was on it in the crowd from the off. The lad next to me is a really good guy but is normally too engrossed in the game to get involved. Last night he was even giving it loads.

On another note, Conte has us brickhousing a bit. The amount of time Harry spends in the refs ear during games is very noticeable. Think this is what Jose meant by being clams but intelligent clams. If I was an opposition fan, I'd fudging hate Harry. But, after his shenanigans last summer, I'm back in love with him. Who said fans were fickle?
