** The Tottenham vs Arsenal NLD Official Match Thread **

Romero will get a red, that's all I know. I hope it's in the 90th minute, and we're leading 3-0 at that point, but ...
fudge, I can't bear it if we lose tomorrow. I want to see our lads play with their hearts on their sleeve tomorrow, no timid tapping around - just fudging smash them.

I think we are better BUT there have been plenty of games where we failed to turn up and handed it to them on a plate. But is that just my rancid brain fighting me? I cannot recall.

This. All I asked of them on saturday night, was to just give it their all and not a half-hearted display. Some of the 'bodies on the line" defending at Anfield was top drawer.
More of that type of commitment please. I can always accept a defeat if you know the players have give it their best, and their best has not been good enough.

This is the NLD, and as big a one as we have seen in recent seasons. Show the fans YOU know what it means to us all

ok, Brighton then....Saints at home....its the best blueprint to stop us, and actually suits Arsenal as where its designed to stop us then releases their front 4. Plus its not as risky for them as a high press. (in case we play thru it)

I think they could go 5 -3 -2, but that allows us to pressure Tavares and Soares plus pick on Xhaka. I don’t think they have the discipline to play that way for 90 minutes. I also don’t see this game without at least one red card.

That midfield has been capable for them. Xhaka has played well. El Neny does his role well and Odegaard has popped up with useful contributions. They are definitely not mediocre.

Xhaka has exceeded himself with regards to keeping his lid. He is a pressure cooker. I hope we target him. Odegaard is a great player. El Neny has done very well but has a ceiling. It is a case of how close to our own PEH you view him with regards to performance v ceiling. They have a good side but so do we. It will be a classic chess game before inevitably boiling up and probably over…

Xhaka is a liability at times, hopefully tomorrow is one of them
I hope Tierny doesn't let him do 5 yellow card tackles before booking him

He is a major concern, the cretin. He will either try and control it with cards from KO, in which case 10v10 is wholly possible, or he will wait until someone has been crippled before exploding into a series of one-way cards, all the while with his stupid ‘Pauline-League Of Gentlemen’ expression!

(If he gives us a dodgy pen to win it in the 90th min, I shall be back here to apologise)

I think Arsenals great run has to a large extent relied on luck - meeting Chelsea and United when they were in decline and Spammers who had a semi final in midweek. Add to that red cards and soft goals . While we have largely been unlucky - especially that cruel deflection at Anfield and Brightons late late goal. Plus of course that ridiculous postonement earlier in the season when they had a hugely depleted team and used Covid to cry off.

By all that is fair and right in the world, we should win this one.

We do however need to turn up.

They will sit back, tackle hard and we will be frustrated.
Don't see us winning this given the lack of creative options in the midfield. I think a bore draw will be the safe result that legoman will go for.

Elneny has been very good since coming into the team. Been playing way above his level. On current form, I'd have him in our team ahead of Højbjerg. Xhaka has been playing well too, but there's always a red card waiting. Hope we try to exploit that, and wind him up from the get go! Also, defensively, they've been solid. Gabriel is unrecognisable.
I think they're weakest up front. In the last 5-6 games, they've been gifted pretty much every goal! Only 2-3 goals have been of their own making. Will be an even game, that I hope we will win.
They play very neat and fast little triangles. I Expect us to be chasing the ball a lot.

Agreed. Think we could see a somewhat cautious approach from both teams at first. Arsenal will obviously take a draw. Us going behind would make things really difficult, so both teams making sure they don't make any mistakes or leave themselves exposed make sense.

Could see us, or even them, try to go for the shock and awe start, but it's rarely been Conte's approach. Think we'll be fairly happy waiting for the right opportunities to break. Should they start pressing high at some point we should play with bravery on the ball though.

Can definitely see this get heated almost regardless of how the game pans out. NLD, so much to play for, loads of frustration that could come out. Some cool heads will be needed.
