Rodrigo Bentancur

He's moved to a new country and getting used to a faster league than he has played in previously.
A below average game or two is to be expected, especially against a team like Liverpool that press so hard and give little time on the ball.
He has mostly been one of our better players since coming in and will only improve as he settles in.

Definitely agreed. Worth pointing out that even at a below average level he still did useful things, made himself available. Even though there weren't highly visible defensive actions like crunching tackles or vital interceptions he did his job well defensively.

A fairly high floor of performances is a very good thing. Just more exciting when he gets closer to his ceiling.

He's definitely dropped a level in the last few games, but i don't see much difference between his level and PEH who is getting plaudits.
If we continue to try and play out from the back to draw teams out he will be a vital cog, but that will take time to bed in.

Bentancur is excellent. He dallied for 1 second against Pool and they crunched him, but other than that, he is excellent.

I also like the fact he is Uruguayan. Gustavo Poyet is interesting on the Graham Hunter Podcast, explaining that Uruguayans are never the biggest/richest/best but they have that mentality to never lose, to always strive that extra inch to beat the opponent, whatever it takes and become the winners, no matter the cost.

Poyet also mentioned Gimenez, the left sided centre back of Atletico Madrid. I'll be honest, I know almost nothing about him, but it did make me daydream for a moment and think "what if Cholo Simeone retires in the summer, what if Gimenez wants to challenge himself in the Prem, what if Bentancur has been talking to him, what if we can afford his fee and his wages, what if he is better than Ben Davies..."

I admit I am basing this largely on Godin, who has been an incredible player for the last 8 decades.

We have been linked with Giminez
