Cristian Romero

You are correct he's 26. Leeds would be wanting over £50m though. With no resale value i can't see it. Although anythings possible.

Bissouma in the last year might be half the price. Gallagher?

If we get him though i'd be happy.
Haven't seen anything from Bissouma or Gallagher to show that they could also slot in and play as a centre back for a Conte type team.

If we're talking about pure central midfielders and assuming we'll have adequate cover in the defence via other signings then Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig would be a sensible signing.... A Conte type CM if ever I saw one and only a year left on his contract at Leipzig.

Why would they have to slot in and play cb?

Sorry.... My original point that first brought up Phillips was this:
Indeed. Our RCB and LCB really should be players who have played at both centre back and full back.... There are quite a few out there around Europe who have played both.

The most central of the three probably also benefits from having played as a holding midfield player as well as a centre back (again quite a few players like that out there and that is one of the reasons that I would love to see us sign Kalvin Phillips from Leeds, as he would be a first choice, central midfielder for us but also offer excellent cover at centre back.

Fair enough.

Showed some self restraint not getting one, makes him an even more encouraging player.

Particularly given how many fudging nonsense tackles they made and for away with. Part of me wanted Romero, or anyone, to respond in a similar fashion. Shows a lot of restraint for him in particular not to. Though some of our other players, that weren't near a suspension perhaps should have.

IF the investment rumors are true, and if we stay 4th, I could see us being in a position to sign them. I will say, however, at this point, Paratici has my trust. So whatever he and Antonio want!

The rumours back in late January were not that something was done but there was an intention to try and do something, although my suspicion was and remains that it wont come off.

My initial reaction was that I wanted us to start smashing in to them as well. Not get bullied. Know if they give it they will get it back twice as hard… but we kept our cool and beat them 4-0. So maybe that wasn’t the correct course

We did keep our cool but also did not shrink from tackles and there were a few things ‘left in’ here and there. A mature display.

Didn't he break Dignes collar bone?

Did not do too well today, after being so dominant the past few games. I get the feeling that he has to do the work of RCB and RWB at times since Royal finds himself out of position at times defensively.

I didn't think he played poorly today. Maybe his passing wasn't as expansive as it could be but that's mainly because the midfield was locked down and so the passing options weren't really there.

He's been overall very good this season but I do think he was slightly at fault for the goal. Unlucky of course, and as a Spurs fan, I'm used to it. Tbf, most of the defense weren't at their best in that moment. You're right about the midfield though, Bissouma was very good today.

That tackle was beautiful. The ref went to blow his whistle for a foul and probably a red, then realised it was fudging beautiful
That describes Romero perfectly!
Brilliance always plays on the edge.
He'll probably end up being the victim of brick refs quite often though.
