The Limp Struggle to Sneak into the top 4 2021/22

Still think its a North London shootout

That run-in of United. Every one of that last 6 is tough. Even Brentford at home. They just got past Norwich, and I would say on current form Brentford are at least 50% if not more, better than them

Assuming United do lose at Anfield. Looking at their run-in I would say it would not be a bad thing if they won at Arsenal. A point at Anfield, and then we need them to be drawing next Saturday

Agreed. Either way, its much better that Utd win at Arse than Arsenal beating Utd. Even if they lose at Liverpool though, Utd will still be in with a chance, albeit small, so might view next Sat as a must win.

Separately, if Cheatski beat Palace this afternoon in the semi-final then I think I'm right in saying that 6th will be in the Europa. We'd have to really screw up to finish below that (we have the capacity to screw most things up though) so at least we wouldnt be in the conference league thing

Ok my prediction is that we will get a total of 7 points from the remaining games. Goons and ManU will both get 10 so all 3 teams will be on 64 points but we go through on goal difference....all I know is that I will be far too wound up to watch or listen to any of the away games, I'll wait till the footballing Gods have decided the results.

If we average 1.16 points from the remaining games this season I’d be livid and we’d deserve to miss out on the conference league let alone champions league.

If we only get 7 points from the last 6 we don't deserve any form of European football!

To just get 7, I assume you're assuming draws v Brentford, Leicester (despite their semi either side of our game), Arsenal and probably Burnley. Then beating Norwich.

Drawing all 4 of those feels like a very pessimistic prediction. There should be at least 3 wins in that group of games, plus a couple draws

If we get 11, then that puts us on 68 with a better GD than Utd and Arse, meaning they need 14 points (5 wins or 4 wins and 2 draws) from their last 6 or 7. There is no way Utd is winning 5 more games. Similarly, Arse need to go to Chelsea, play Utd and us.

Lets not panic after one defeat, its still on.
And we're in the driver's seat. I think we'll end up with 72-73 points, winning our remaining fixtures and drawing or losing to Liverpool. I'm sure the players want to get CL next year and got a bit complacent with Brighton, given our league position and after the romping wins in the previous 4 games. I doubt Conte will allow that to happen in the next 6 games.

Agree that we are in the driving seat. However having watched Spurs for many years, no matter how good we are we always make life difficult for ourselves. I will eat my hat if we don’t drop any more points other than against Liverpool, I think we will have at least one more poor result than that….

MancU's sked just got stressful. Cozza Chelsea making the FA Cup final, MU have had their game originally slated for May 15 shifted forward to April 28.

So that's at Liverpool today, at Arsenal this Saturday and home to Chelsea Thursday. And they've got a fair few injuries - Fred, McTominay and Varane all likely to miss the entire set. Who knows whether the grieving Ronaldo is fit to play in any of these, although if his son was ailing last weekend, that hat trick against Norwich was testament to how he's dealing with it.

And with Arsenal's next three games against Chelsea, MancU and Waste Ham, this really is pedal to the metal time for Spurs to open up a gap to fourth and have that nice cushion prepared before the NLD.

Obviously still on. Even if United beat City and Arsenal win against Chelsea we're still 4th.

Very good to get some help from other teams at this point. Might end up needing more of that. But most importantly we need to get back to winning ways ourselves. One game is a blip, two not so much.

Be nice if both Liverpool and Chelsea win their games this week against United and Arsenal

Yes, though I'd almost look at it the other way around - I think most of us are assuming they will lose, so you could argue that there's only downside from these games

I think Liverpool will win and Arsenal will either win/draw against Chelsea, they seem to always do ok against them

I was banking on Arse only getting 4 points from Southampton/Cheatski/ManU, but was also looking at us beating Brighton. Could really do with a Chelsea win tomorrow

We just have to hope our rivals keep dropping points as we showed at the weekend that we are not to be relied on.

The weekend was pathetic, unacceptable and an eye opener. I do hope Conte has got to the bottom of why we played in a manner that suggested we played 120 minutes just a couple of days earlier.

Whatever happens the most exciting thing is Paratici being able to fine tune this squad in the summer. Up to 5 or 6 need to be thrown out and replaced with significant upgrades who are specialists for the roles in Conte’s system.

Not having to see anymore limited players who are square pegs in round holes next season is the most exciting thing for me.

So fighting it out for top 4 and a potential 'winner takes all' NLD is less exciting?

If we play like we did against Brighton, we won't win again all year.
But if we play like we CAN play, we will do fine.
So it is impossible to call.
Was our poor display solely down to Doherty being out and thus our wingbacks killing all moves? And Potter drowning out Kane with Bissouma... is it really that easy to nullify Conte?

Utd are jogging around at Anfield, woefully outplayed, not up for the fight at all. Pogba pretending to be injured after 10 mins and limping off to try to avoid the blame game. Toxic atmosphere at Utd right now.

It wasn't how we played it was how Brighton played - they came here with a well thought out plan to stop us and executed it well, i don't think it was a case of us not turning up.

Yep. And Bissouma played a big part in that, Not seen enough of him in other games, but he has really impressed against us.

Watching United, so far, tonight is just reinforcing for me its a North London shoot out for 4th. So could do with United raising their game and snatching a point on Saturday lunch
