Dejan Kulusevski

Allegri wants to play a certain way, regardless of what players he has. Didn't suit Kulu nor Bentancur. A manangers job is to get the best out of every player. That means you have to find a system and positions that suits the ability of the players you have. Conte has done that. He wants to play a certain way, but he has found ways to get the best out of the players. Imagine if/when we get wing backs that fit better into Contes system!
Conte is no different. Conte needed the right players for his system to work hence the additions of Kulu and Bentancur as well as the pursuit of Dias and potentially Traore (shudder).

I don't even rate Allegri but he's doing no different, the players that he has kept fir and the players that don't he's let go no matter how talented they are (GLC, Ndombele, Dele).

Time will tell if either manager has gone down the correct path.

The difference is that Conte has managed to adapt his system to make it work with players that aren't really suited to it (our "wing backs).

Which is good enough for challenging for top 4. But if we want to challenge for the title, that's not enough. Conte will need players that suit his system, rather than relying on what he already has and making them fit his system.

He hasn't adapted his style of play/tactics he's just playing the players he has available

Those he matches against Southampton and Wolves where our midfield were over run are a black mark against his name. Shows how all managers need the right players for their system.

He has. He said it himself in an interview. "you have to adapt and put the players in situations where they can be comfortable"

What's the wider context of what is being said? That line doesn't say anything on it's own.

I have to admit it annoys me how much emphasis this story has on Spurs "missing out" on Diaz and Kulu being a "plan B". It's as if signing him was just a coincidence; some random player we picked up because we failed to sign our main target.
And not as if Conte wanted him before at Inter. But the narrative is much juicier the other way.

And if it was Liverpool it would be them rejecting him and their world class scouting team found a gem in Kulu.

Was a petulant little swing at Cucurella - if he'd gotten sent off, I doubt anyone would have had any complaints. Intent, not outcome.

Which was annoying, because it dampened criticism of Pawson for being desperate to keep Mwepu on the field no matter what - we couldn't point it out given he'd also been lenient with Kulusevski.

Needs to control himself if that's a part of his game - like Romero did. Tone it down, pick your moments.

He didn't get him in the face. Very selective photo. His elbow got him in the chest but momentum means that cuca came further forward and kulus elbow went further back.

So if you swing for someone with a Mike Tyson-Esque right hook but miss by half an inch it’s okay? Does the law state it’s only violent conduct if you’ve got pinpoint precision?

Kulu was rightly frustrated, like us fans all were, but if he had connected then it would’ve been an even more infuriating game. I’m going to say flimflam on calling it a “selective photo”, Deki went for the guy with his elbow; don’t pretend that he didn’t.

We’d have been frothing at the mouth if a Brighton player had done that. Even though it’s easy to forget, he’s a young player, so it’s understandable there was a display of petulance, we can acknowledge and forgive it (especially as he got away with it and we lost anyway) but don’t sweep it entirely under the carpet, Conte and staff need to have a word.

If he connected with that elbow, he breaks the fella's jaw. Very very lucky to stay on. Bit of a brainless move on his part.
