Pierre-Emile Højbjerg

I am, PEH is very much upgradable as a starting player and behind the wingbacks it's the next obvious weakness in the team.

Apologies I wasn’t clear, I meant as in a change of shape to accommodate 3 cms - Not suggesting we shouldn’t be looking to improve that area of our squad.

Can be very good at times (like most of the first season he was here) but was so poor again against Brentford. For a midfielder, passing backward is not great, and making sloppy, wayward sideways passes is even more criminal. Not saying Bentancur was great either but it seems like we really miss Skipp... hopefully he comes back next season stronger than ever.

I thought he was ok
Did all the basics right
He looked up so many times though and had such few options because of the lack of runners which doesn’t help amp,Ayer who isn’t the greatest with the ball

You’re concentrating on the symptom and not the cause…. We were outnumbered 3 against 2 in the midfield and Brentford got very tight our forwards leaving no pass on.

It was easy for them to do that as we didn’t stretch
The conte system needs 5 attackers not 3:mad:
Indeed.... Sessegnon at least takes up the right positions. I have confidence that he could become a good enough wing back for our system. Royale though gets forward far too slowly and is pretty much always looking for a ball into feet as opposed to the ball into space that stretches the opposition. As he also isn't a great dribbler and can't really beat his man on the outside that makes it really difficult for us to mount attacks as the opposition can stay reasonably narrow on our right hand side and ensure that they can get tight on our forward players with us then just having our 3 centre backs as the spare men to pass to or one of the central midfielders if they drop back into the space.

I see that we've been quite heavily linked with making a move for Singo from Torino this summer and could see why Conte would want a player like him as he is physical and powerful but also very pacy as well as being prepared to take a player on either on the outside or the inside. He is still very raw and nowhere near the finished article but looks the right sort of player for Conte's system.

From what little I’ve seen of him he looks a great opportunity buy
Potentially a big upside

I am not saying Royal can be a RWB (he is clearly not going to be) but on a couple of occasions he made the ‘right’ move off Kulu and was well ahead of him waiting to receive the pass, most notably towards the end of the match when Kane unwittingly found himself deep left transitioning from defensive duties and was thus able to find Kulu early. It is why I believe our main chance of getting top 4 lies in being able to switch Kane not just deeper but into deeper areas where the space is in order to either get his creativity or free up the middle for others to take (in such instance I see Romero being able to carry the ball 20-30 yards as well as PEH before finding Son and either Bergy or if on the pitch at that stage, Bergwijn. Kane HAS been dropping deep but in a fairly straight line which simply clogs the middle and forces the ball to our rather ineffective deliverers out wide. If HE drifted out there and deeper, then I think it opens up a few possibilites.

I personally only see one team trying to do a ‘Brighton’ on us, and that is Burnley. Brentford? I felt we had enough of the ball, and enough space on the pitch, to find a way through far earlier. Alas, form is off for a couple of players and the automations do mess with cuff-movement. I hope Conte gives Kane full license to do what HE needs to do within the structure around him if there’s 20-25 mins to go in a tight game. He is our golden shot, best passer, best vision. Let’s use him and make his shoulders bear the weight.

I'm sure I heard a sweaty pretzel saying all this recently on some podcast somewhere?

I agree Kane should be given licence to go and find space, if things aren't working. If a team has us locked down / locked out, we need to make different runs and movements to break their lock.
