So, what happened today?

Lovely sunny day to get into the garden for only the second time this wet, chilly Canadian spring. First go was to give it a preliminary raking and hand weed the tenacious speedwell which seems to start growing the minute winter snows melt and allow ice underneath to recede. This one was to do a finish-up raking and weeding and give the veggie bed soil a proper turnover. Three weeks ago, there was still icy snow on the back yard. Now, we feed the soil with proper fertilizer and about a month from now, start planting already established and blooming seedlings.

Wife and I split the duties - plus a tidy joint of Green Crack(or Cush) sativa and once done a bottle of Wayne Gretzky Vineyards 2017 Cabernet Shiraz blend red. Lovely stuff on both counts. Raking up the winter debris and plunking it into yard bags. Three bags full. Got some minor veggie seedlings (banana peppers, variety of tomatoes and Green Cush) sprouting and started prepping areas to receive them.

Plans afoot to hit a couple of the major greenhouse operations in the Niagara Peninsula to snag some other veggies already well established. It's a short growing season in Canada, so anything I can do to accelerate the process, I'm happy to do.

not specifically today, but the wife's passport arrived 1st April, booked a holiday for 3rd April and just returned from a week in Dubai.

First holiday in two plus years, forgot how it feels getting away to the sunshine. First holiday abroad with two kids instead of one, had the absolute best time. Real quality time with them, by the Pool, play areas etc, just brilliant. Buzzing despite being back in UK.

Sounds like living the dream to me, apart from the combo of weed and red wine which through experience tends to be a messy combination for me.

I'm not growing old gracefully, I'm 48 got a list of minor issues (thankfully) that need creams, tablets, lacquer. Last night fell in the bath, knee went through the fibreglass bottom, shoulder hit the taps, aching like fudge today.

Yesterday did a food stating session for work with Unilever
They brought out quite a lot of meat substitute products… they were all very very good
Does help they are cooked by their chefs whilst we were there but none the less the food tasted and looked like the meat it was meant to be…

Something I’ve been seriously considering and more so now with the way energy has gone
Where have you stuck your inverter?
I haven't installed it yet but likely the attic. I'll probably get someone to do that bit.
I'm flipping between a hybrid inverter so I can connect a dc coupled battery a bit later or a regular inverter and get an ac coupled battery later. 1st one is about a grand more expensive.

What do you have the whole cost at and at what output?

The full kit with the hybrid inverter (no battery - about €1k for that) is €3k ex vat. With a standard inverter is 2k. That's no labour.
The panels are Recom 390W x 6 so a bit shy of 2.4kw.

They are south facing but the pitch on the roof is a little shallow. I'd estimate about about 2000kwhrs a year. That'll put it at about 40-50% of the yearly electrical consumption of a typical 4 bed house. I have an electric car so less for me. Very rough figures.

LinkedIN makes me laugh

It's really clear on my profile that I'm 2 months into a contract and not currently looking
Today get a call saying yeh read your profile carefully and it's brilliant, you've come up top of the searches, blah blah
Are you interested in a perm role
No, but who is it with
It's a brilliant role with a company called MS Amlin
Oh right, so you read my profile really carefully
Yes
Well did you not see I worked at Amlin for 24 years and was made redundant by them last August so working with the is the last thing I would want to do thanks
Oh

hahahahaahah, cretin

I have been asked to provide 5 years worth of bank statements to an employment agency. I have some gaps in employment - so I sent them evidence I was not working for those months (under protest). Now they want the rest to evidence that I was working for whom I said I was working as they want to have me working ASAP.

Worse, they have queried with me some investment income I had in Those statements I did send to them.

These pricks contacted me with the job. I don’t even now what hours they expect me to work etc. Took a direct question to establish the day rate they quote to me was also to cover employers national insurance.

These people are brickheads.
