Coronavirus

Got it in mid January, and still not feeling 100%.

First few weeks my energy levels were ridiculously up and down, I slept a lot and generally couldn't do much more than what I absolutely had to do. Since then I've been getting gradually better, but only in the past few weeks have I felt close to normal again. I don't have much stamina at all though, and a hard day at work could easily drain me completely. I've also had strange headaches and pains in different parts of my body. Feels like theres a travelling inflammation band on tour inside of me.

It's enormously frustrating. Obviously nothing compared to those who have died or suffered serious health issues from the virus, but it's still limiting - both me and the wife, and a lot of people we know, feel exactly the same. Makes me worry about the long term effects from the virus, TBH.

If you’re bothered about it you’ve obviously been turned in to a non binary social justice warrior, probably not by 5G. Remember to not care about evidently important things as you’re obviously just overcompensating for your white guilt.

*In seriousness I hope you’re doing well health wise, despite people who jump at it not being first page in the mejia

I've had long covid for 18 months now. It's a bitch, but it does fade, albeit in my case intermittently and with relapses. Nothing shows in my lung scans, but there's definitely issues getting oxygen circulating properly

LOL, thanks. Doing all right, I suppose, I've just been lucky enough to have had no big health issues until now, and it takes a little getting used to too.

Sorry to hear that, and that's what I fear too TBH. Used to run 2-3 times a week, which had a great effect on my netal and physical well being, but that's totally out of the question at the moment. Resting is not my strongest side either, so it's challenging for me not to push myself. Hopefully the recovery won’t take too long.

Then again, I'm not dead and able to work and function all right, so it could be worse.

I can still play football, but then I have massive crashes for 2-3 days afterwards. I've basically become Ledley - I just save myself for games (and can't manage my usual daily runs).

The sense in the current research is to treat it more like ME - i.e. go with it, rather than try to fight it: https://metro.co.uk/2022/03/14/long...ill-i-ever-get-back-to-full-fitness-16163216/. But that mindset doesn't really work for younger, more naturally competitive people

been back in the gym and doing ok i think, but i get headaches often in the evening or late in the day. Might be tied in with office work and staring at screens all day.

I'm neither young nor particularily competitive, so that's not my biggest issue. :D I'm just a stubborn fudger who likes to be in control, meaning also I like to decide when I want my body to be active or not, and not the other way around.

But yeah, I'll probably have to make adjustments and hope that things eventually will get back to normal.

Not got COVID (tested twice) but have a horrible cough which is killing my chest, had it for 3 days now

Have tried for the last 2 days to get a appointment to see my GP, nothing doing

Phone up a private GP, pay £49 and seeing them first thing tomorrow, ridiculous I have to pay but money talks

Doesn't your gp do walk ins? Usually once a week. Queue up in the morning. They give you a time for that day.

By the way gps are private. Problem is they are paid by how many patients they have on their books not how many they see.

You have to ring up at 8am and it's a lottery trying to get through, it's a joke really

Interesting

China has announced its biggest city-wide lockdown since the Covid outbreak began more than two years ago.

The city of Shanghai will be locked down in two stages over nine days while authorities carry out Covid-19 testing.

The important financial hub has battled a new wave of infections for nearly a month, although case numbers are not high by some international standards.

Authorities had so far resisted locking down the city of some 25 million people to avoid destabilising the economy.

But after Shanghai recorded its highest daily number of cases on Saturday since the early days of the pandemic, authorities appear to have changed course.

The lockdown will happen in two stages, with the eastern side of the city under restrictions from Monday until 1 April, and the western side from 1-5 April.

Could that just be the vaccine wearing down?

Possibly, but they are no farther off their 3rd dose than others were off of their 2nd, in the back end of last year, much closer in some cases.

There was a window when you could get it and not notice, but the 7/8 people I know who have had it in the last month have all been wiped out for a couple of days.

Anecdotal though.

Is it their first proper infections? A lot of people getting it now are the real escape pod lot, whereas the first batch of omicrons were wuhan and delta veterans

It’s a mix, one of them got it for a 4th time, GHod knows what she’s been up to.
I know a few 4 timers. They are mainly people who are having to test regularly for work. I suspect most of us would be that high if we tested throughout, even when having no symptoms

We've been going into the office every other Tuesday for the last few weeks, just been told to stay at home again for the foreseeable, seems the office is absolutely rammo with COVID.
