Alfie Devine

Very good goal that.

Often performances in these tournaments has little impact, but if he does well it may make it easier for us to get the right loan for him if we want to go down that route at this point.

Harry Brooks (twitter) keeps saying very good things about him, even that he should be considered close to ready for first team football for us. With us adding Bissouma to the already existing very good central midfielders here game time will be very hard to come by with him being so young.

A loan could be good.

Agreed. Skippy's stint at Norwich should be the target for every young Spurs player -- play every week for a competitive lower division side. As you say, hopefully a good tournament will get Devine a few suitors. Is he ready for the Championship, or would he be better off playing every game in Div 1?

The ultimate would be when Spurs can afford to loan out promising players to lower Premiership clubs -- like Conor Gallagher's loan to Palace. We're some way away from that sort of squad depth, however.

It was a good result but I thought the England team looked like a bunch of strangers, they didnt seem any cohesion in their play and many didnt seem to know where their team mates were on the pitch.

I think that he is a lot more rounded (not fat) player that Lampard. Devine can play any of the central midfield positions
So could lampard at youth level
Lampard was a very good player
But style wise what I’ve seen of Devine and the way he strikes a ball is similar

That statement does a disservice to how good a player Lampard was. He could also play in any position in the midfield, just was so good going forward that it made sense for him to play as an attacking midfielder. I personally think that Lampard was better than Gerrard and just didn’t have the whole Liverpool hype machine behind him like Gerrard did.

if Devine ends up being even 90% as good as Lamard was then we’ll have a very special player on our hands (and I have said plenty of times on here that Devine is head and shoulders the best player in our new under 23 squad).

Lampard like Sterling in the other thread is a dirty word round these parts. Much like Henderson, H Redknapp, Parker, etc. Englishmen are underrated on this forum rather than the opposite (them being overrated is often thrown about).
