Alfie Devine

Harry Brooks on twitter has been full of praise for Devine recently. Somewhat uncharacteristically for Brooks to so explicitly praise a player that young from what I've seen. Saying things like that he's ready for the first team.

Still ever so young, we should be cautious in our optimism, but when Brooks is that optimistic I find that somewhat difficult.

Would be really cool if he got some minutes at some point this season.

What position does he play do you think, box to box mid (Connor Gallagher style)? The game I saw he seemed to be playing AM?

Considering the lack of quality in our first team I can well believe it.

Agree with the general gist of your post though fella.

Harry Brooks has been coaching him too

I've only seen him live 3 times and he looks and plays similar to Gascoinge, he needs to be managed carefully as he has a bit of devil in him, if we were playing better it would be good to give him some game time to see how he handled it.

If he ends up half the player Gaza was we would be seriously lucky.

This lad is a real top top player
Gaza was brilliant but was given opportunities at the right age for him
We need to give Devine them when it’s right

hope he isn't like the young ones we debut that looked scared, out of place and like a deer in headlights.
liverpool introduces boys that play like men - how do they do it?

Could he be any worse than Winks?

See your point but a one year loan next season is probably best for both him and scarlett. Then we can reassess summer 2023 if they need another year on loan or hopefully they push on so much that it will be time then to integrate them into the squad.

Also next season we should have bentancur, skipp, sarr and perhaps one other new signing. So that already leaves peh and winks for league cup duty and europa league group games. In fact one of them could even be sold if they continue their mediocre performances this season.

I think we need to be realistic about expectations for Sarr. Granted, he could flourish when he moves to a bigger team but he's been in and out of one of the worst teams in Ligue 1 this season

He’s got ability but that’s it at this stage. However, our CM does look to have a lot of potential for the future - Skipp, Bentancur, Devine and Sarr are all young players with varying amounts of experience but all have a lot of talent….

I would stick Sarr on loan at Norwich next season and give him the year to find his feet and acclimatise to the country

Devine turns 18 on the 1st August, maybe a loan to a lower division club where he is guaranteed first team football would be the way to go
