Dane Scarlett

In the two games he's played he's had no service. It's hard to judge him in a game where those around him are taking 3 or 4 extra touches every time and ignoring the runs he's made.
Kane has also struggled in the first few games with no service, last night he finally got service from Lo Celso and the difference was obvious.

I'm not saying he's ready to play in the Premier League but there's no harm in giving him a few run outs in the ECL

It certainly would be good to see him play with people who have a) the vision to see his runs early and b) who trust what he can do (i did feel at times there was no trust in him to be able to keep a move ticking over)

The service thing is partly true, but also partly a reason for it. It is true that he made a couple of runs that perhaps better service could have provided him with an opportunity.

But also there were a few times the ball was out wide with either Gil or Doherty, and they looked up to see who was in the box and whilst Scarlett was in the box there was no real feasible area to put the ball into for him because he doesnt have the physicality. If Kane was in the box he is a presence and there would be an opportunity to put the ball in but with Scarlett this just isnt possible.

I think Mourinho was right when he said it would be best to use Scarlett like Rashford was developed - Start him out as a wide forward before moving him centrally. To be the lone striker is a massive ask of someone so young, regardless of ability....

Yesterday was a reality check for those who have been clamouring for him to start all the cup games. The kid is simply not ready for any level of senior competitive football at this time whether League Cup or Conference. He should not even be on the bench. Let him continue to train with the first team until the New Year then get him a loan with a League 1 (more likely 2) side.

As for those who were happy not signing a backup striker so we give chances to the kid.... no comment!!!!!

Harsh, we created very little until the changes, if we'd done a straight swap with him and Kane without the other chages i can't see Harry getting a hat trick.

Looks to me like he just needs to get comfortable playing with his peers. I'd keep giving him minutes. One goal might be all it needs for him to know for sure he's good enough for this level.

He is 2 to 3 years of development before he is ready to play for us.... and it is nowhere near close to being guaranteed that he will ever be ready.

Scarlett is a very promising youth player. Under 23 football wouldn't be too low a level for him this season and it is complete squad negligence that has him as our only cover for Harry Kane.

He has talent but he is not really ready to play more then the odd apperance, it was only a couple of years back when some were clamouring for Parrott to ge more playing time here. Let the kid learn before we start pushing for him to get more games in the first team.

Happy to see him get more game time in the Conference. Good learning experience. We have the quality to change games if needed.

Tough ask when he doesn't get a lot of service. At times he looks a bit out of place, at other times he looks more ready. Seems only natural.

I remember against City at the start of the season when Kane wasn't playing. Scarlett made absolutely no impact up front in that game, like he wasn't even there.

Him being our only cover for Kane isn't true. He's not even the first cover player.

I’d have been inclined to only make a couple of subs (at the point we made 3) and leave Scarlett on there with Kane and Son or Kane and Moura, give him 10/15 minutes with a bit of service and good players around him, see what happens.

I have been saying that for a while, teh other reason he came on for Kane and then had Emmerson playing on the right wing alongside him.

Unfortunately we have been struggling to score goals, else I would love to see him come on during the last 10-15 minutes of a league match when the game is already won, or start in a cup match either alongside of Kane or in place of him but in a relatively strong lineup

Today would have been a good day to start Scarlett with Kane or at least have him on the bench, but know this clown of a manager does not even put him on the bench, instead 5 bloody defenders on the bench :eek::eek::eek::eek:

He played last night in the under 23 league cup thing.

I noticed the youth thread on this site is locked, or just locked to me haha.
