Davinson Sanchez

Romero's control is top notch. Saw him stop the ball last night and it was glued to his chest. The pass after was central midfielder quality. He just oozes quality, no wonder Conte asked to exercise the 50 mil option we have on him. As for Doherty, we couldn't sell him if we put a 3mil price target on him. Most likely we will have to offer him money to leave, just like Aurier.
We have NO a choice on the option. We have to buy him. It’s called a contract
And why wouldn’t we of course
But he isn’t perfect
None of our players are which is why there here

Some are. Some are huge players, that make a subpar team able to fight for UCL places. Kane could walk into that City line-up and become their best player instantly. Son can go to Chelsea, again top player up front. Romero can go into Man Utd lineup and instantly become best defender. Lloris is twice the goalkeeper Arsenal have. The others, most of them not all, are bottom team players.

or maybe become their Jonah

even when he won the WC, Hugo had to get his moment of Spursiness in

Lamela, now he was a huge player, he was the one

Been trying to be positive about Sanchez recently. Really struggling with that right now.

He's taken some steps in terms of defending, weeding out some mistakes. On the ball though... I find it hard to see how he can be a good fit.

He’s struggling in the current setup/selection, but we’ve seen better from him this season.

I expect he’ll pick up when Dier and Skipp are back in the team.

He really had picked up his all round game.

I went to Saints away, and his confidence in his short game passing was very good. He looked in control of most situations.

And maybe that's his problem....it all falls away for him so quickly, he returns to type. Flustered and panicky and looking technically poor.

As a manager it's horrible to have those doubts/worries about a player that is literally a last line of defence.

He’s absolutely dreadful on the ball. This will always be his downfall.

maybe, depends on Conte's opinion, personally I'd be surprised if he's not in ahead of Romero

Davies, Dier, Romero is slow, Dier is comfortably our best CB, and Davies has the lock by virtue of his left footedness

Im genuinely baffled as to how/why you rate our weaker players so highly; Sanchez, Dier, Davies, Lamela but chronically underrate the likes of Kane, Son and Romero. Davies is steady Eddie who shouldn’t be starting. Sanchez is just brick.

For me it’s Romero, Dier and Davies. Romero is our best centre back by a distance IMO but I’d have Dier in the middle for his leadership.

Personally, I’d have Rodon or Tanganga over Sanchez. How many more chances does he need to prove he just doesn’t cut it at this level under pressure. The lad is a liability.

I want consistency and predictability, you can scheme for that, give me a player that is 6/7 out of 10 every game over one who might be a 9 or a 1 depending on what mood they are in

nice try with the Lamela bait :p

I would absolutely love it if Sanchez could give a 6-7 out of 10 every game as opposed to the 2/10 he usually serves up. Sanchez is the complete opposite of consistency and reliability. He can’t even pass a ball more than 5 yards without fudging it up.

Sanchez needs Dier beside him to talk him through the game, without that his concentration goes and he's not the same plyer.

I remember Jonny Evans debut for Northern Ireland against Spain. In the post match interview he was praised for his performance and was told that he played really well. He replied that he just did what Hughsie (Aaron Hughes) told him to do and couldn't remember anything else.

He could have King and Cannavaro alongside him and I don’t think it would make enough difference
There's been a big drop off in his performances since Dier has been out. He'll never be a top class CB but with Dier he was at least decent enough to get us through the season when needed.
Skipp is also probably a factor too as the protection from midfield has dropped off with him out.

You’ve seen the stats haven’t you about goals scored against with and without Dier/Skipp?
