Coronavirus

Yes but less than half are deaths from covid. They are incidental as are hospitalisations. Bit of a joke now.
I don't think it's a joke now. It's now a really important measure (although probably needs repacking for idiots, sorry the public, to understand it). Understanding the (quant) number of infections to death ratio plus the (qual) impact of those numbers in isolation and together only society is key to understanding what we are now living with - which very much looks like a mild infection now. It should stay on that path if similar case studies are anything to go by.

Think there needs to be far more clarity on the numbers of deaths in terms of With or Because of COVID.

The one figure that i have been asking for since day one of this that no government has published is the daily total deaths.
Fairly simple comparison from pre covid rates to covid rates would be informative.
Which is probably why they aren't doing it.

The ons does publish excess deaths. This is the amount of deaths over the 5 year average.

Not the same thing.
Nowhere near the same.
Those "excess deaths" are so fudging flawed it is a joke.
Two major problems with them, no one, uses 5 years, it is 7 years.
Anytime they are used there is 10% margin of error each way.
That is how unpredictable the death rate is.

Yea, lots of confounding issues in the excess deaths but I do believe it to be useful.

What specifically do you think we could derive from knowing the total number of deaths over any period? We’ll get another variance which has just as many but different confounding issues?

Its context, something has been sadly missing from all these daily figures.
If when telling us how had died each day with covid they had also told us the total that had that day we would have had context.

For instance between 575k and 650k people are expected to die each year in the uk, there is obviously differences between the winter daily rate and the summer rate, divide that by the 365 days of the year and you will get approx 16-1700 deaths per day in the UK.
I think you can see that its very difficult to get an accurate figure from that, there is just to many variables and unknowns. That's why we need context.

Also it doesn’t account for population growth during those 5 or 7 years.

Well, strange thing this and further highlights my point about death being unpredictable.
The NRS, Scotlands version of ONS, has an excel spreadsheet on its website with a monthly death rate for every year from 1994.
In 1994 64000 people in Scotland died.
Over the course of the next 12 years that fell to approx 53000, and then slowly climbed back up to 64000 last year.
In that time our population has grown by over 10%.
I use that spreadsheet three or four times a year, it was always linked from the home page, now its tucked away and very difficult to find.

Legend. I believe he's attracted a whole new young audience from this action too.
Young did not like what Rogan has to say so demands he’s de platformed or he’ll remove his music from Spotify. Looks pretty pathetic really. Pretty apt for the behaviour we constantly witness lately. I don’t like your opinion so you’re not entitled to voice it.

Rogan is knowingly putting out false information which endangers peoples lives for money.

Ok, I've just seen a pic of joe rogan and this isn't him.
So who is this?
Is it sad that i don't know any of these people?
Do i care?
Should i care?
Do you think i should ask Spotify if they will let me have my own podcast?
I might call it, i knew @milo before he was an internet sensation, tales of a Glaswegian brothel doorkeeper.

Joe pesquali (however you spell it). Has a squeeky voice.

As for joe rogan. He's ok. Some great interviews, some bad. He doesn't pretend to know everything and asks questions.

Got absolutely slammed as a transphobic. Because a 30 year old man swapped sex then went into the ring fighting a woman and crushed her skull. Joe said that's wrong. Some LGBTQ and woke community went full cancel on him.

Anyone that takes medical advice from Rogan is a fudging idiot.

Still don’t agree with Young . Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and has the right to speak it within the guidelines of law or rules of broadcasting or on Spotify Rightly or wrongly.

Don’t like to see calls for censorship

Anyone taking life advice from any celebrity deserves all they get imho.
Love youngs work, but he is an idiot.
Has fallen out with just about everybody at one point or another.
