Giovani Lo Celso

Really hoping we can move him on. Was surprised we took the option to buy on his loan so prematurely. I know he was playing fairly well for Mourinho at the time, but it made sense to see it over the course of a season. Had we waited, I'm not convinced we would've made it permanent.

As much as I'd like another stick to best Jose with I think the loan deal being made permanent was cast iron and not something we could have pulled out on - was a way of spreading the cost over a couple of financial years or something.

I do wonder how much of a part the state of things at the club behind the scenes played in the transfers of that summer flopping - club/playing squad on a downward spiral, change in manager a few months in to the season with his replacement destined to fail. 18 months of negativity on and off the pitch, COVID another sacking and 2 short-term stop gaps - Conte appointment probably the first big decision the club has got correct since moving out of WHL and the first bit of positivity about the place.

Indeed...in years to come, the carnage will be further revealed. It makes nabbing Conte all the more incredible.

Interesting that Dan Kilpatrick is reporting today that he’s not liked by the club. I wonder if he means technically or personality wise…

I'd say both at this point. Considering his potential ceiling -and how far below it he currently is- I'd say he has not left himself a path back in. The only shame of this public revelation is that it devalues him in the market whilst at the same time making it untenable that he stays...you DO have to wonder who says what to whom when it comes to media leaks in the final days of transfer windows.

Sounds like something that would come from the players camp to me

I have a hard time believing any credible leaks occur between Conte and Paratici. First off, everything they say to one another has to be in rapid, fluent, slang-ridden Italian. Their native tongue, speaking about footballing matters they've spent a lifetime conversing about. Not an easy thing to pick up on for a casual, non-Italian listener. LIKE YOU ALLY GOLD! LIKE YOU FOOTBALL INSIDER! Beavering away to invent schit from inside your mum's house.

Secondly, if something was leaked from these two - the only two that really matter - it would have to be of a strategic value. So if a useful fcukwit - LIKE YOU ALLY GOLD! et al... - picked up a seemingly useful smidgen, it would be to serve the greater purpose of The Tottenham.

Not sure what the issue is? A lot of what he talks and writes about is what he asks in press conferences. He does have contacts in the club and talks about information they pass onto him. He's also in contact with journalists that have contacts in other clubs.
He doesn't make it up like a lot of journalists.

Football insider is just gonad*s. Apart from the efl. They actually do get information for that.

GReatwhitenorth has issues with the creditability of gold and Charlie Eccleshare
He does work in the media as a photographer I believe

Amen to that.

He does make it up like a lot of other journalists. You have to differentiate general club news and transfer speculation when it comes to him. Inside info on things such as injuries? Sure he can be reliable for that. But when it comes to transfers he goes with the general speculation as much as anyone - all for clickthroughs. And don’t get me started on the new manager fiasco and how many times he got that one wrong….

Then don't read his stuff. It's not hard.

It actually is hard not to read his stuff on here when someone is always quoting him:D But regardless, there’s no harm in reading what he says - it’s all fun and games. The problem is people quoting what he says as if it’s gospel, it’s been proven time and time again not to be the case…..

I heard at the time that us and Betis were several million apart in valuation and they had to pay PSG a big lump in any sell on fee.

So we agreed to pay a massive loan fee initially, which wasn't subject to the sell on fee, and then paid a smaller amount when we made the deal permanent. That means Betis got the amount of money they initially wanted and we paid what we wanted with PSG getting screwed. So, you're right, we had basically committed to buying him from the off.

I really hope that story is true because the thought of PSG being screwed like that, even though they can well afford it, warms my heart.

Definitely true, as PSG appealed to CAS over the basis for the sell-on calculation. Not sure how it panned out, or if a judgement has been given yet.
