**** Chelsea v Tottenham Hotspur ****

He's never going to get all the players he wants. That's not Spurs. He needs to get the best out of the one's he has. It's not a terrible squad. I agree he's only had 12 weeks, but he's played 3 games against Chelsea in a month and lost them all abjectly. That's not acceptable imo.
But he also has been manager to have the best start in club history

Our season is not gonna be defined by a game against Chelsea IMO

it will be all the Games against the teams below us first and foremost

It is an abjectly terrible squad. How many more managers must this lot burn through before people see it?

In five years, starting with that summer of 2017 where Walker went out and Sanchez and Aurier (among others) came in, we have been declining fast, until now we have a thoroughly mid-table squad.

Kane is the one player who is at the level of our opponents today - maybe Son on form.

The rest of this sorry lot would have been subs for us when we were at our pomp in 16-17 and (to a lesser extent) 17-18. Hell, some of them *were* subs - Davies, Dier, Winks, Lucas, Sanchez. That they have become regular starters and (for some) key players is an indictment of how the squad has fallen, not how they have grown - because they have the exact same limitations now that they did then.

Conte has just come out in his post-match presser and said it again - to be a top team, you need good players. That will take years, according to him.

This squad is a terrible reminder of how badly wrong this club's transfer policy has been for five years. Fixing it may take another five.

Strength of schedule has played a part in that, we’ve lost to every competent team we’ve faced.

It’s not Conte’s fault though, the three managers before him were sacked because of player underperformance.

Yep, we are at the start of off loading the dross.

So we have played 1 competent team in 10 league games
I’ll take that as it bodes well for the rest of the games we have to play

I know it fits the agenda but we're a good bet for finishing top 4 this season - squad can't be that bad
The squad is ok
It’s weak in some areas for contes system of course
It was perfectly fine on Wednesday with enough in to come back so late despite the team missing a chunk of players (as was there’s)

Squad is that bad. Manager is top class.

Only reason why we are even in with a shout - it's Conte against Arteta, Moyes and Rangnick for 4th spot.

Our squad is worse than United's, worse than Arsenal's, maybe on par with West Ham's. Again, players that were bench warmers and strugglers under Poch - Dier, Davies, Winks, Sanchez, Lucas - are now key players. That is not them improving, because nothing about them has changed. That is the squad falling to their level.

Agree 100% and would add that Conte is working miracles to get us up the table and has managed to make us effective against most teams but against the very best teams, like Chelsea, his hands are tied.

Player by player they're simply a better team than us. Much better drilled at what they're supposed to do, and when calls don't go our way, we've got no chance in these type of games with the team we have now. No worth crying over this though, fully expected a defeat. This team of our's won't beat any of the top 3 teams away in its current state - simply not good enough.

Absolutely spot on. They are better both man for man and as a collective. It is men against boys at the moment. We have no power down our spine and are therefore spineless. Totally different from when our big beasts Dembele, Wanyama , Dier, Verts and Toby roamed and dominated the middle of the park. We are a million miles from that now with players like Winks, Davies, Sanchez, PIerre and
Skipp. We need some real power in those positions.

It's not player underperformance. They are playing to their true level, it's not a particularly high level.

Mediocre players will largely give mediocre performances.
