Japhet Tanganga

I really hope this isnt true, loan is fine - but I dont hink we should be selling just yet

Tottenham Hotspur will only allow Japhet Tanganga to join AC Milan on loan if they agree to an obligation to buy this January window. Tanganga and Spurs hierarchy will decide on his short-term future next week amid AC Milan’s interest

He has potential, however thinking about which role he'd occupy in the back 3:

He's not a LCB
At the main CB position, we have Dier and Tanganga probably isnt his deputy. I think we need another option there as not sure we have another decent alternative
At RCB, Romero is first choice and then we have Tanganga, Sanchez or Royal as back-up (I'd probably keep Royal)

He's also not a wingback

So I kind of agree that I wouldnt mind seeing him loaned out to see whether that irons out the mistakes which we've seen...but its not a complete screw up if we sell him given he's soon 23 and not looking convincing at all

You are correct, I just have a nagging feeling it could be a mistake and we regret it.

He could go to Italy and smash it and the his price increases as well

Loan for me. I'll be very unhappy if we sell. Thought he did okay today but the booking knackered him.

He'll learn a lot over the next 2-3 years and if he can cut the mistakes out, he could be a top centre back in my opinion. It shouldn't matter, but he's a local lad and Spurs fan, so I'd love to see him make it with us.

Edit: Despite being local, turns out he was a United fan. Sell him now :)

I'm not sure he'll make it for us but it would be foolish to agree an obligation to buy loan now imo - if he does well then his value will rise and he may come back a better player, if he does poorly we'll still have suitors domestically

I agree.
He's right on the cusp at the moment of being the same bracket as Michael Mancienne or Micah Richards.
But a good loan could do wonders.

Will he ever be a top class player for us? In a ball playing centre back role or a right back role with attacking quality?

I have my doubts. If so it will take quite a long time. Meanwhile we have what will probably be a fairly short term manager in place and we're in need of raising cash for signings.

If he's wanted at the kind of fees being rumoured I think it's a fine decision to let him go.

If he had clear potential to be really top class I would agree with you.

No one Is paying those fees being rumoured surely

Love his effort and he’s had some really good games for us, but feel he might be just below the level we need. Would like a nice Prem (or foreign) loan for him next season to see if he sinks or swims with regular games.

I'd rather him go to the Championship than abroad. Obviously lower Prem would be better though. Needs to step up and get a solid season under his belt.

Yes, turns 23 the week after next. Still makes a lot of mistakes, and not obvious what his position is. Needs to play week in, week out in the Championship, find a position and get some consistency
